1990 Crash (UK)
by Mario de Paula Leite Gouvea

Brazilian Mario Gouvea made a very good rendition of Hangman, packed with several other classic puzzle games and a version of Breakout. All games are very playable, but nothing much technically. However I just love this version of Hangman, even if a bit on the easy side.

This Crash covertape game comes from Brazil of all places. And well it's a mixed bag really, it contains minigames such as Hangman, Breakout and Slots, the Hangman part works but everything else is lacking. The Breakout game sees the ball move only in fixed angles, and if you somehow get your ball going upwards there's no other option but to lose a life to proceed, oh and it always goes through blocks from time to time as well. The slots I never seem to win, there was also a game featuring Stormtrooper and I lost a life, God knows what else this game has. It's very different and creative and I commend them for that, but it just lacks in polish and execution in parts, the Breakout game especially wasn't done particularly well. I feel it partly deserves a higher score and it partly deserves a lower score, so putting it down the middle was the fairest result.
