Reviews for Pontoon (#15893)

You know what? In my nine years and over 1800 reviews on this site, I've never done a game called Pontoon. I may have done a Pontoon game by another name and I may have done Blackjack, but never a Pontoon game by the name Pontoon and that is astonishing and thankfully that changes now. Now this is a game I know, it is basically Blackjack except we twist instead of hit but the rules are the same, and it is a better game than Astro's other offering Fruit Machine. However, I have my grievances with this game, in that it is not user-friendly for the beginner, it is no problem with me because I know this game but it you have never played Pontoon before and you are playing this game, you will struggle and I will tell you why. Firstly, I would have liked this game to tell you what you have during the game, like if you are dealt 7 and 3, that's 10, then you twist and are given an queen, we known that's a 10 and you have a 20 but if you are new how are you to know since the game doesn't tell you? Also and most critically, if you managed to get 21, the game STILL insists on asking you to twist or stick and I think, again purely for the beginner, it should automatically stick at 21 for you and this doesn't. Also ties count as losses and the dealer seemed to twist on 17 and either win by scoring 20 or bust by going under, the general rule is the dealer always sticks at 17, but a couple of times he did not. So naturally as I know this game, I did enjoy it, but I had to dock it a couple of points for the faults I mentioned throughout this review. On its own, it get a 4 by default, but the negatives outweigh the positives and I am sure there is a better Pontoon game out there that is beginner friendly and doesn't try to shaft you by making you hit on 21 and have him hit on 17 to beat you, hence I've settled for a 2.
