Reviews for Foxx Fights Back (#1846)

This is a cute game ,,, the idea is quite original -in which other videogame a fox brandishes a pistol or can be killed by exploding eggs ??- .

Apart from the originality of the plot , the game itself is quite playable ,,, the movements of the fox are very rapid , his leaps and hops cover long distances , he bounces up and down like a kangaroo , he is chased by armed dogs and bombarded by aggressive squirrels ,,, the sound is also very detailed , the main tune is one of the best I´ve ever heard coming out from a Speccy sound-chip .

Your mission is to collect apples and to hunt chickens to present them to your partner in her cave underground ,,, a bit violent may this game be , but as I said before , Foxx Fights Back is hugely , utterly playable . : )

Fantastic Mr Foxx!
It's not the most involved game you'll ever play but it's perfect for short gaming sessions.

The idea of killing anything seems pointless to me, specially animals, humans are so usual in games you get used to it, but the animals in this game, I dont know why they bother me a bit.
Since it's a fox doing all the killing I'll let it pass this time. Meaning also I can do a carnage rampage without any guilt!!

But blood and guts aside, FFB is a cute playable side scrolling shoot 'em-up. It was written by the some guy who wrote such great titles as The Great Escape, Enigma Force or Where Time Stood Still. So expectations were high. The game plays quite well, even with the clumsy idea of having to stop any time you want to shoot, which is rather annoying, but I guess you get used to it. Btt the overall game is rather good, with nice cute cartoonish animated graphics. You can jump all the way thru of most of level one, which makes the game seem too easy, well it's not the hardest ever, but it's not also all that easy, in fact the difficulty level for this game is quite friendly and makes the game welcome to anyone of any age and gaming experience.
Not the greatest piece of software John Heap put together but still a very worthy game to add to any list.

It's always nice when foxes shoot back. Good animation, not a great game though.

3/5

And completing my lost list of reviews is a game that I think I vividly remember setting this to be among the first reviews to do and seven years later I still haven't reviewed it. Maybe because I couldn't sit myself through the disappointment of this game again, because I never particularly liked this game, in fact 30 years ago I hated this game. However, time has passed on and in advanced age and heading closer towards senior citizenship I don't hate it as much now though I still don't particularly like it that much. It looks really nice and I get the idea of the game, but the shooting is a bit of pain, you seem to lose health quicker than you ought to and on the whole landscape I always found it to be frankly a bit arse. But at least I can now look at the game and say it's not good rather than look at the game and call it a lousy piece of shit every ten seconds. It's not a great game but it does not deserve so much hatred from me any more.
