Reviews for Kung-Fu Master (#2780)

A pretty nice conversion of the classic irem coin-op game.
Sideways scrolling beat-em-up, with the same limited gameplay as the arcade. The graphics are big and bold, if a little plain, but the game has a very 'just one more go to get further' addictive quality. Certainly not the best example of the genre, but worth a play, and shouldn't disappoint any fans of the arcade original.

Kung-Fu Master, the classic IREM beat-em-up which spanned a whole genre, could have been ported much better to the Spectrum. Sadly this was not the case. Graphics are sketchy and slow moving, the scrolling is jerky and the tune playing in the background is really grating.

It's true that none of the features of the coin-op have been left behind, but the final result is far from being satisfying.

An average conversion of a very popular arcade game. The game itself becames very boring after a while because you basically use the same method of attack.
It was good for a few plays that nothing to jump about.

Good lord the music! This is one of Ocean's forgotten games, that being because their credit is missing on WoS and so when you search for Ocean games in the database this one is missing and so you forget that it's one of theirs. Actually there's a bigger reason why it's forgotten about, and that's because it's shit. This came at a time where when Ocean's games were good they were really good, and when they were bad they were really bad, they had the best of games, they had the worst of games, and my god this is among the worst. It has zero gameplay enjoyment, it's too slow and hitting anyone is a matter of luck. From what I recall the arcade game was a fun game but this port is anything but fun.

One of the classics arcades ever deserved a great conversion for the Spectrum.

US Gold took the responsibility and the result was a disappointing game. Poor graphics, slow movement (unlike the frenetic original game) and an annoying tune.

A better game could have been done. We had to wait 32 years till Mister Kung-Fu (Uprising Soft, 2018) was released.
