Reviews for Barmy Burgers (#422)

"Burgertime" effort which isn't too bad despite some clumsiness.

This isn't shockingly bad but just tends on the wrong side of the line when it comes to choosing whether to have another go or not.

Movement is character based which can be a bit of a nuisance when trying to use the pepper or get onto the ladders in a hurry. The monsters also have an odd habit of getting stuck for a few seconds for no apparent reason. Thankfully though the annoying and overlong sound effects so present in other Blaby productions are kept to a minimum here.

Despite a great, simple loading screen and nicely drawn characters it doesn't really compare well to Mr Wimpy.

1983 Blaby Computer Games (UK)
by Gary Capewell

I think this was the first conversion of the fantastic arcade classic 'Burger Time', one of my all time favourite games.
Could have been better done, but I cant say anything against it, because I loved it.
In someways it is a bit primitive, the movement should be pixel based not character like, but hey, this was 1983.
All the rest I think its great, funny characters, dinamic sounds, overall addictive.
Great fun.

It's Burger Time again, well I say again except there were only three Burger Time games on the ZX Spectrum, this one, Mr. Wimpy which I reviewed earlier (hence it's Burger Time "again") and none of you will have read it per usual and a third in 2003 which I've not covered yet....and that's it, only three Burger Time games and none of them were official.

Enough tut, while Barmy Burgers looks and plays like Burger Time I found it quite annoying in that the controls are not very good, the salt thingy doesn't do what you want it to do sometimes which is a pain. But still if you love Burger Time, or indeed love burgers, then you might want to give this a shot. Mmm hungry now!
