Reviews for Yogi's Great Escape (#5830)

Review by Rebelstar Without a Cause on 06 Jul 2013 (Rating: 1)

Hi-Tec released a load of games based on Hanna Barbera cartoons. Yogi's Great Escape was one of the better ones. Having said that it's still dull, tedious and a complete insult to the cartoon it's based on.

With a colour scheme taken directly from Wacky Races, this took only two minutes for me to come to the conclusion that Greed Monster is the better game. It's astonishing that two Yogi games released by the same company and released in the same year can be so drastically different, in style, presentation, gameplay, and most of all quality. Greed Monster had plenty of quality for what it was, Great Escape had almost none.

A horizontally scrolling platform game where you guide the eponymous bear running and jumping along six levels. In the last one Yogi flies aboard a hot-air balloon.

Graphics are monochrome and sound is limited to a few blips. Not very original, but competently done and decent for its price. Good for younger players.
