Reviews for Zarjas (#5842)

Review by p13z on 16 Jun 2013 (Rating: 2)

Vertically scrolling space shooter / avoider, given away free on a Sinclair User cover-tape.
There is smooth parallax scrolling going on, and your ship is big and slightly strangely animated. However, it is awkward to distinguish the poor monochrome background from the wobbling baddies, asteroids and explosions. It also feels a little sluggish.
Play, play for as long as you can, you won't see anything new. It starts as it goes on, over and over, just becoming faster. High score is all there is.
Fair enough for a cover-tape freebie.

1988 Sinclair User (UK)
by John & Ste Pickford, Peter Gartside, Andrew Cavendish and Jeremy Nelson

This was initially written in an afternoon as an "easter egg" for the game Zub and given the name Lightfarce.
Later it got a proper release, with a loading screen of it's own and given away free on a Sinclair User cover-tape.
This version is better, more smooth and playable but I don't see the point of it, you just play for the points? Just one level? A bit pointless.
