Reviews for Bouncing Berty (#655)

Q Bert clone, 16K. Not absoutely terrible, at least its fast paced, but its hard to control and harder to like after a couple of goes.

Falls a bit short of 2/5 even with some consideration for its memory use and era.

Q-Bert´s poor relative ...

The next two games are from a two-game compilation from Power Software which will then be followed by a review of the compilation itself. First up is Bouncing Berty, and it's Q*Bert written by the chap who gave us Postman Pat much later in the Speccy's life. And well it's bloody appalling. The ball moves so bloody fast that I died without even moving and my end ended quicker than I can say what hit me. The controls are bollocks as usual, I never got on with Q*Bert's controls but this takes the cake I think. You have Q and A fair enough, then P and I'm expecting O or more realistically L, but no it's ENTER which absolutely no fricking sense on a modern day keyboard whatsoever, I know that wasn't in mind when it was written but come on. Better clones exist, I'm sure worse do as well but certainly better do.
