Reviews for C5 Clive (#779)

The sound fxs can be annoying after a short while in this video-game ,,, the movements are a bit rigid and monolithic but they don´t hinder playability .

C5 Clive is quite challenging and with the right dose of difficulty .

The most interesting features in this videogame are the combination of tasks , the variety of screens and enemies , and above all , the ambientation ... the trees , the moving clouds , the red brick houses , the pale-blue phantoms , etc. , all of them create an enveloping atmosphere .

The ambientation elements in this game work really well and they make you want to advance and go further ...

Around this time the C5 had become popular, at least in the news.
And I think it got the English folks excited for a while. Long enough to try the device and realize it would be more reliable to buy a bike instead of only traveling 24km per hour at the high cost of it.
In the other hand you have to congratulate Sir Clive for trying to introduce such a non poluting device on our roads at a time when oil was king.
The game itself is as obsolete as the real C5. Repetitive, sleep-at-wheel-boring, badly designed and a bit annoying but despite all that still addictive enough if you're in the mood for this sort of game. And If you liked it why not try the sequel 'Clive in Exile'.
I think its a nice piece of C5 merchandise history and a nice reference to the overall work of the Spectrum creator, altho 'Day in the Life' wins the cup.

Another Barry Jones game, and while it's better and more playable than Happy Hour it still isn't a great game. It's good for one go and then after that it will probably be left untouched.

Drive Sir Clive, in his C5, across a series of flip screens, avoiding and jumping (?!) various static and moving obstacles.
Sprites are flickery, gameplay is primitive and graphics are simple. Somehow though, it manages to hang together as a game and keeps reeling you in for another go. It has a bit of humour and character too, but not quite enough to make up for the general crappiness.
There were certainly worse £1.99 budget games out there.
