Re: Best game music/sound

That is not far off though in truth, I think it's my favourite Tim Follin tune.

Re: Best game music/sound

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwME6LSI8qM I've yet to hear anything better than that on the Spectrum technically or musically, though the Heartland theme was pretty good. Considering it was early 1984 too I think, mind-blowing at the time to hear the Spectrum making that sound. Sandy White / Angel...

Re: NEXT FAQ’s

The Next is lucky to have some very responsive and capable folks involved in it, you only need to see some of the replies from the founders on this thread alone to see that, they always seem very helpful to me. Although I am not on FB you can read the public pages without being a member for the grou...

Re: UK units dispatched!!!

Mine arrived from Yodel without any issues here in the UK. I have not even opened the outer box, I have an accelerated expanded KS1, so not sure really what I will do with it, I just knew I wanted to support the 2nd KS. Think I will leave it in the box for the time being. Hopefully get some time in ...

In view of it, I have just voted "properly" in the main poll (and was a little surprised to see the results so far... :o ).
Danny, these philistines do not understand the true glory of MM & JSW! ;-)

Re: What type of game defines the Speccy?

I can't really disagree with many if any of the suggestions here they are all excellent, but I guess to pick one MM would probably be it. Maybe Wheelie though? Don't think it ever was converted to any other platform, and in terms of, along with MM & JSW too for that matter, it's single paragraph...

Re: Secrets of Castle Madness - Grid based dungeon crawler

Your game looks great in its early stages! It looks like exactly my kind of party rpg in the first person of sorts, you just don't get them anymore, I don't like isometric perspective rpgs. Are you going to crowdfund it or sell it on itchio etc? I would buy it as it stands now. Any chance of 6 chars...

I've been reading cprg for a few years now, can't remember how I came across it now lost in the mists of time but it is a very good site, covers some great and very obscure old games so you really can come across the odd hidden gem there. I recollect he covered Swords and Sorcery by PSS one of my fa...

Re: Cuchalain the Great

I think the is is the type of game a lot of people were expecting from the Next. Same graphic style as the Speccy but with no clash and more colours, whereas many of the Next games tend have a more Amiga look. I agree with that to an extent, I think just more good games in general would be really g...

Re: Spectrum emulator on Macos that allows rewind

My Mac is in a very sad state, so I can't check on it, but I used to use Fuse on it as it was the most reliable Mac emulator I could find. Most of the time, Fuse involves excessive pointing and clicking with the mouse when hotkeys would be better, but for Rollback (on the Windows version at least, ...

Spectrum emulator on Macos that allows rewind

I wondered if anyone might know of please an emulator for Macos that allows rewind or roll back. I use FUSE on my Mac but I am no doubt being thick I don't think I have worked out how to do rollback with it or if it is even possible? Any thoughts or ideas on the above will be much appreciated thank ...

Re: The Declining Quality Of Crash

I started out with Crash then moved onto ZZap when I got a CBM128. Both great magazines at their best, I think my first Crash was possibly late 84 early 85, ZZap I had seen from issue 1. There was a difference in them both, certainly ZZap became probably a bit more youth when the likes of Gary Penn ...

is there not a video or two on youtube that might help in terms of how to complete it?

I don't know what Crash gave it in terms of Value for Money when they reviewed it, but 40 years of gameplay for
about 6 quid seems like quite good value to me ;-)

Re: BBC special BBC Prom celebrating music in video games

I watched this program come on, and was fairly unimpressed by the presenter's lack of knowledge, clearly scripted questions and answers, but more than anything, the thing I suspected would happen did happen, after Chronos, where they _barely_ name checked the Great Tim Follin as its author, they sta...

I shall keep my eyes open for this AA, Star Force, I don't remember an arcade game called, that, but thank you for the information, and for the explanation about MAME etc. Hopefully they will release the new version of RAMS soon.

Would Odin fit the bill, given they are all withheld I think, or are you thinking of software
that existed at the time but has since been lost, no copies survive that are known of?

For that matter, Ultimate too? Maybe that would be a different thread, if so apologies.
