Re: Questions about "scheme types"
1) The downloads table has a column schemetype_id, which can be NULL. There are also schemetypes with text "None" and "Undetermined". I assume "None" means explicit there is no scheme, which makes sense, but "Undetermined" seems to mean the same as NULL to me...

I notice that this listing is for Super Soccer - " Super One Player Version " (maybe id 10283 on the database) and the database already contains two similar soccer games credited to this same distributor: Big Match Soccer - " Two Player Game " (id 518 on the database) Football - ...

It's awesome! With a better (i.e. solid) case, it'll be even better! Do I see a portable "Next"?
So many buttons! (love the dedicated tape support)

Re: scrconv - SCR -> GIF/PNG/JPG converter
Notes on the auto-border colour feature: The detection is pretty simple: it just counts the total number of PAPER and INK colours and chooses the most common one. I experimented with 30 or so screens and the result is that most will still have a black border. Of those that don't these are the more ...

Re: RAM chips for lower ram, can these be used?
35th week (end of August) of 2000?
Seems more legit, but lots of rust on the middle legs... no idea if it'll work or not...
or if it's the same chip inside as it states outside.
All of them bear the same labeling?
A standalone DRAM tester would be ideal to see if it behaves as expected or not.

Re: Odd Kempston Interface 'Plus'
The Z80 always reads an eight bit byte. A Kempston joystick interface uses bits 0 to 5 for the four directions and fire. That leaves three inputs ‘spare’. Hence if this particular interface uses an eight gate tristate buffer chip, it’s possible to add three extra inputs… Mark And then add a "S...

If you notice any magazine there (or anywhere else) that's missing from our own magazine section please let me know! AFAIK we are currently missing a few issues of Happy Computer and Load'n'Run, and some of the most obscure newsletters. These are in my TODO list. I don't know anything else that we ...

Re: Little bugs in the database 6
I have just loaded all 3 versions of Colour Clash from SC on my ZX Spectrum with uSpeech interface, none of them will start the game with interface attached - but game starts WITHOUT the interface. Not sure if any further investigation is needed? (e.g. should the uSpeech be disabled before loading,...

My searches there got nowhere.Einar Saukas wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 12:51 pm This information came from Martijn's old WoS. Perhaps you can find more information searching the old WoS forum?
My original question came from the Fuse emulator development, where uSpeech support is progressing.

Re: Little bugs in the database 6
Romik's Colour Clash entry says it has Currah uSpeech Support (belongs to group 14010 ). But I can't find any supporting documentation for that. The sleeve and the manual on the tape itself (it's the first data block) just refer joysticks support (Kempston and Sinclair), also the various magazines r...

Looks official, isn't there any sleeve?

The "running" screen seems to be from the blue "starting" room on the right wing of the map. What makes you think it should be the green "starting" room in the ship's center (with the half-eggshells)? BTW: this "running" screenshot is not correct: there are so...

SU's covertapes (and there are dozens of them, sadly not all preserved yet) usually include a poke utility such as that. From SU's covertape 72 (Megatape 1) up to 95 (Megatape 24), this kind of utility was called 'Poke City', indeed. Most of these Megatape's are preserved but some others are sadly s...

Well, that list is really old, ported from Andy's old site, and in need of a review to be up-to-date.
I guess the schemes are on the 2nd or 3rd tables when the saving routine couldn't be found.
