Re: Guess the screen$

Sorry for going off-topic, but I have to respond to this: There was a small community of germans using Sinclair computers instead of Commodores. Let´s guess about maximum 5 percent of all homecomputer users. In eastern germany the Spectrum was much more popular. There are still some hundred active ...

Re: The Running Man

Atomic Shrimp has done some great videos on the subject. Shrimp is a nice bloke, I also like some of his food videos, especially the one where he had 3 meals for one quid. As for scambaiting, I recommend 419eater.com ... it's a goldmine of amusing stories in the "Letters Archive" section.

Re: Nice detail looking at a house

Wait . . . You’ve never seen Office Space ? :o Seriously, you’ve got to watch it, if you haven’t. Of course I have seen it as well as the other films directed by Mike Judge. Why would I have referenced the red stapler in the first place if I hadn't known the film ;) The reason I linked to that arti...

Re: Nice detail looking at a house

There might even be a red stapler on the table, obscured from view by the chair. EDIT: What a coincidence! I googled "red stapler" after posting here and came across this article about the movie the red stapler features in, which contains this snippet: The movie was loosely based on Judge'...

Re: Doodlebugs

Here's what this thread has made me remember as it is quite similar to some of the pictures posted ... it was on a British site, mid to late 2000s I think - mis-heard game names . The most prominent one I remember vividly was this picture of some teacher/professor looking guy standing in front of th...

It's cool to see this happening and I wish you all the best. With your plans to get this done before the event in September there should be plenty of time to get everything sorted out.

No ads? You could use fake ones like I did ;)

(Jack and the Beans talk) LOL! You had the same idea as me. Last night I was thinking of grabbing a bunch of screen grabs of Mister Bean episodes, but I was tired and said "sod it, maybe tomorrow" :) @Juan F. Ramirez Well, you have started quite a series here. At this rate, spiky-haired J...

Re: Guess the screen$

Well, maybe it wasn't that easy but I found the green platforms very easy to recognize and as it was a fairly nice game I'll assume it is not too unknown.

Technically it hasn't been guessed as I didn't tell the full title but I might well have spoilt your submission, sorry about that

And we have a winner! To be honest, I never played the game. I just went into the archive and tried to find a game I've never heard of. Even though I actually own the CRASH issue where it was reviewed, so it's safe to say it didn't leave a lasting impression. The Power House weren't exactly renowned...

Nope. It's a fairly obscure game.

I'll post a clue tomorrow (I don't access any forums when at work so it won't be before late afternoon in CET time).

Your Computer was also my favourite magazine. I loved reading about all the different computer models that emerged during the 80s. I also read YS, SU, Crash and sometimes C&VG. I knew a guy that imported and sold C64 and Spectrum games and he bought a lot of magazines and gave the old issues to...

Re: Smooth multicolor parallax scrolling

If you want both, it will simply take too many cycles so unless you want it to take place on a small part of the screen, it simply won't be feasible. Especially when aiming for 50 Hz as far as the scrolling is concerned. Even if not, the multicolour has to be done every frame ...

in games magazines, everything was pushed up heavily This seemed to happen a lot more in the UK than in other countries. There's this German retro site I also participate in, and they often mention how some (allegedly) terrible or so-so games often got very high ratings in UK magazines compared to ...

Looks pretty cool, but I can't read some of the text because the scan is a bit too low-res.

The colours you used were leaning a bit towards the Commode's colour palette ;)
