Re: Games "based" on actual events

That's quite a stretch though (I mean Embassy Assault). Similar to me thinking that Dustin is based on Papillon book/film (and author's real life). There's bound to be a heap of strategy and sports games with real life connections, but that's a bit boring. The Untouchables - another film/real life ...

It's a completely different storyline though. The name is the same, yes.
That's why I said inspired 8-)

Games "based" on actual events

Other than strategy games such as Guadalcanal which obviously are specifically about certain historical events, I'm thinking about games that are nominally based on or inspired by real life events. For example:- Embassy Assault & SAS Operation Thunderflash - The Iranian Siege Harrier Attack - Th...

Re: Brilliant games that didn't make it to the top (Hijack, anyone???)

BTW I've mused on putting together a feature about Spectrum / 8bit games and terrorism as there seemed to be a few.
You've got Embassy Assault and SAS Operation Thunderflash which both seemed to be based on the Iranian Embassy siege and also games such as Strike Force Cobra. Must be a few others.

Re: Brilliant games that didn't make it to the top (Hijack, anyone???)

I've just submitted a feature on They Stole a Million for RG. Also got an interview for Hijack so might do that one soon as well.

Both ace games, well ahead of their time.

Re: Making of Frankie Goes To Hollywood

This game is controversial. It has its fans but other people like me could never make a head or tail of it. So it's a game about a music band but you don't have this music band anywhere in the game. They are just on the inlay. You are some guy who actually isn't a real guy as you have to collect po...

Re: Top 100 ZX Spectrum Games

Ah Rebelstar, a game I played with my friend for hours! Although I now prefer Laser Squad, but the memories of Rebelstar still make it good to go back to. Still have the Spectrum beeper “tune” played between rounds in my head! Rebelstar was also a game that was picked up in a motorway services stat...

Re: Selling off most of my Spectrum games

If they were mine, I'd take the higher value games and sell them as BINs on ebay or facebook. The collect the rest, anything worth less than £2.00, and do a bundle on ebay with 0.99p start and see what they go for. You can't really put a value on some of them because they're so common they don't rea...
