Re: ZX HSC Round 4 - Deathchase / Sea War
I remember buying Deathchase and thinking it was a terrible game and taking it back to the shop to replace it with 'Alchemist'. I might have missed a good game looking at the reviews. Time for another try 30 years later.

A nice little game, amazing what you can achieve in basic. Very playable. Seems a lot more than a proof of concept. How long did it take?

Re: ZX HSC Round 3 - Commando / Rainbow Islands
I didn't realise Nigel Alderton wrote 'Commando' i thought he just wrote 'Chuckie Egg' and said 'That's me done, you wont write a better game than that. See ya!'. I'll have to do some reading.

Re: ZX HSC Round 2 - Cannonball / PSSST / Flappy Bird ZX
^That's^ it! Finally. The procedure is intuitive right up to the F7 key. How did you know about that? Anyway, thanks so much. That has opened doors for me. Glad you got it working. I knew I was close and I just went through every option looking for the final key to the puzzle. Years of playing adve...

I'm using version 0.7 Tools/options/controllers/Keyboard Keystick emulates - Kempston Joystick Customise... Setup QAOP (or whatever you like) Then enable Keystick (F7) Choose Kempston when playing the game and use your defined keys - You are welcome :D I'm using v0.666, and that method didn't seem ...

Re: ZX HSC Round 2 - Cannonball / PSSST / Flappy Bird ZX
How do you do that? I've tried remapping the "keystick" controls in the options menu, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Ditto. I'm using v0.666. @Freespirit which version are you using, and how are you doing it? I'm using version 0.7 Tools/options/controllers/Keyboard Keystick emulates ...

Re: ZX HSC Round 2 - Cannonball / PSSST / Flappy Bird ZX
I used QAOP through ZXspin. I only played one game. I was thinking while playing who pitched a growing plant and insects idea and a game shooting ingredients into a bowl and thought it would be a winner. I guess you can make anything good with the right team.

Re: ZX HSC format changes
It doesn't matter to me as i picked some random games i hadn't really played before, i also missed that rule. Alessandro makes a good point though that probably needs to be discussed. Thinking about it although it wont affect MY scores, i think i will have to withdraw from the competition out of the...

Re: Frumpy
I've completed all the levels now. I thought they were really clever, one of the best games i've played for awhile. Well done!
I noticed you introduced the rotation of the main character, i'm not sure that works, just looks like a blur at speed.

Re: Blockheads
Hi, It looks as though my post was a dig at this forum/its users/the Spectrum scene and it wasn't meant to be so I apologise. I'll try and explain my decision a little more. Ste Pickford once told me that starting a game is easy, completing it is the hard part. And he's correct. I start quite a few...

Re: Frumpy
I was wondering if you thought about making it possible to move left and right when jumping in the air? You could then not just jump to the opposite wall but back to the wall you just jumped from. I could also then move when falling into that gap on the right on level 1 that I couldn’t do after 10 a...

Re: ZX HSC Round 1 - Bomb Jack / Penetrator
Scores are all great and good (keep'em coming) but we were supposed to chat about the games too. It's in dem rules folks! 8-) So, do you know any interesting trivia & tidbits about these games? I've been trying out Bomb Jack on other formats. C64 version was godawful: lurid colours and everythi...
