Re: games where protagonist transforms / changes in time

El Poder Oscuro comes to mind. Protagonist may go on foot, inside a small flying ship and into the Mazinger-Z like robot. Gauntlet should be included. You said the protagonist must change in time, but also you said that it may be a selectable character at the start. Also, if gauntlet may be include...

Re: Bank 7 corruption while loading in Plus2A mode

Re: Games that made good use of FLASH

I only remember FLASH being useful Chip's Valley. The goal of this game (playable, not bad not good) is fixing your computer by getting those FLASHy bugs? hardware errors?

They could have been marked using a special GDU, but instead they are marked with FLASH. Very easy to spot but not annoying.

Re: TAP files for DivIDE/DivMMC

Please, try to use this disk . The game is divided into 4 files: - GNG.BAS is the BASIC loader. It should work as is, but you may change the LOAD instructions to delete the file names (and that PAUSE 200 instruction). - GNG.SCR is the original game loading screen. - GNG.1 is the code already encrypt...

Re: TAP files for DivIDE/DivMMC

I made a +3e conversion that worked fine and could be easily converted to TAP. BTW, Ghost's n Goblins is encrypted and NEEDS an original 48k ROM to decrypt. So if you are using a 128k, it won't work even if you load in 48k mode (the sympton was that it loaded, but hang on the menu screen with a few ...

Re: Zaxxon, should have been better for 1985

Well, there are not many games to make a comparison.

The only other shoot-em-up with isometric scroll that I can think of is H.A.T.E., but it has some different mechanics). H.A.T.E., and Highway Encounter demonstrates that isometric scroll may be done, and the first is also a 1985 game.

Re: Thrust 2 loading

Dinamic also had a similar loader (Poliload), used on Astro Marine Corps and Rescate Atlántida . It didn't take much longer to load, took care of 48K/128K loading, and you could play master-mind while waiting. I don't know if that error-control was so useful. I guess that it worked well on undamaged...

Re: Little bugs in the database 6

A heads-up for spaniards archivers: MicroHobby magazine published many, many type-ins on their pages. Also, they published some tapes called "MicroHobby Semanal" that had those type-ins recorded so you don't have to type them. On the database, most titles contained on that tapes have bad i...

Re: Old CRT TVs - could it display 40 columns ?

Microhobby (and some other magazines, I guess) published some routines for printing at 42 columns , using 6x8 fonts. It even published a routine to print at 36, 42, 51 and 64 characters per line . IMHO, 42 characters per line is easily readable on a ZX Spectrum with CRT (64 can be difficult at times...

Finishing the first part of Freddy Hardest . In this game, the second part is way easier than the first one; so I finished that part earlier... after finishing the first part you can think... "Wow, I've finished a Dinamic game completely". Actually, this is one of the easier Dinamic games...

Already preserved.

This utility was published on a tape on MicroHobby magazine #215. It never was published separately.

As a hint, most utilities by Pedro José Rodríguez Larrañaga were published on that magazine, as type-in or (in later issues) tapes.

Not the best, but surely the game I played the most. A second place would be Cobra, that is better but not as funny to me.

I'm the strange habit of looking above my screen from time to time. Why? Because I used to have a ZX Spectrum + (still working), a black and white CRT Thomson TV (I don't know what happened to it) and a big tabby orange cat (died about 20 years ago). Old times TVs usually had enough space to fit a c...

Yes. I had a program (from a magazine) that could add a REM line of a given length, so it is possible. But I guess you should use MERGE instead. If you have to generate a few instances of DATA values, you could include the lines pre-filled it with zeroes (i.e.: DATA VAL "000", "000&qu...

First screen of Raid Over Moscow was another example. I think this made many people not appreciate the game better. I think that stage is easy...
