Very sad news indeed! The ZX Spectrum startet my IT carreer. RIP Sir Clive and THANK YOU!
Back in 1984 I started my venture into the world of IT and computer science. ...Yes, and gaming on home computers, too... The very first program I wrote produced a bit of beeper music. The second one was a training program for Latin verb grammer. Designing, writing (on paper) and doing a dry run (wi...

Re: Why do 16 year olds develop ZX spectrum games?
Maybe the instructions should be preserved, too. I could scan the pages and I could include the Alphacom 32 listing. It is just too funny that a Latin teacher ploughs through a dire BASIC listing and still finds something to set the record straight. Almost done with the chaos in the wake of a water...

Re: Why do 16 year olds develop ZX spectrum games?
I gladly share this program with the budding Latin-learning community on the ZX Spectrum. Problem is, however, the whole thing is in German, of course. But I can do a tap scan for you, WoS and other interested parties to publish. I do plan an English version of it, though. This will take some time t...

Re: Why do 16 year olds develop ZX spectrum games?
Actually, my own way into computer science and software development started just beyond 16 years of age. For the final years of German secondary school we had to pick two subjects which represented the major focus of these final years. In my case this was English and Latin. 8-) For one of these subj...

Re: Why do 16 year olds develop ZX spectrum games?
I wonder if there are teens nowadays who bother with developing software for the ZX Spectrum. I would recommend it. If the Speccy teaches you anything it's probably the clever use of limited hardware. Considering the often ridiculous hardware requirements of rather simple IT-based solutions I would ...
