Took the mechanism out and when the play was pressed the operating arm was not fully travelling to engage the transfer gear with the drive. A bit of gentle cleaning and moving the arm back and forth a few times. The gear now engages properly with the drive. Now to find a working tape to try and load...

Purchased a Scart lead from Retro Computer Shack and that works.
Did not fancy trying to do the modification as been over 30 years since last played about with a soldering iron.

Yes it is a Hitachi flatscreen lcd TV. Just have option of Scart and Scart-S.

Have 3 Spectrums. 128K Toastrack and two +2 (Grey) When try to use the RGB to Scart I get a poor image on the Toastrack which blacks out for about 1 second every 10-15 seconds.
