I found the tyres did not offer much traction in snow as kept getting wheel snip.
A friend of my father had the loan of one once so we were invited up to have a try.

Re: Diagnostics card help.
Did a quick search online and it could be the following: The sequence starts with a battery of memory tests, which for the 48K tester, test the two banks of memory (the lower 16K and upper 32K) individually. Each sequence runs in a consistent way. First, the test number is flashed on a single LED, s...

Re: How did your ZX Spectrum die?
Think my first Spectrum died after the jack plug for the mike side of the cassette cable shorted out part of the rear edge connector. After that kept both jack plugs plugged in on the spectrum side and changed at the tape deck side. Parents took it to shop where they bought it and it was changed for...

Re: Did you have your own TV/monitor when you got your Speccy?
Had a B/W portable TV which I had used previously with my uncles ZX81 that I had on loan.
Then was a year or so later I got a colour TV.
Mind you with my original spectrum to help boost the sound volume I connected it to the AUX input on my Hi-Fi.

Re: ZX Spectrum network in schools or education
The school I went to had a selection of Pets which we used for computer studies. Plus we wrote programs which were sent to the local collage to be entered on punch cards and ran on the computer there. Was fun when people who had their own computer at home tried entering a program they got from a mag...

Re: Before you had your ZX Spectrum...
Had the loan of a 1k ZX81 for awhile off my uncle. He bought it after a few weeks let me have it as he was spending all his time playing about with it. The ZX81 was a good introduction to computers and what can we get 1k to do. Could never get it to load any programs I saved to tape. Then got a ZX S...

Re: Couple of questions about the DIVMMC FUTURE -
The only problem I found with the DIVMMC Future and the Grey +2 was the pin used as the expansion slot key protruded up enough to catch the rear of the case. Think the clearance on the Grey +2 case for the expansion slot is less than the other spectrums. As it fits the original 48K, Spectrum +, Toas...

Re: Spectrum +3
May need to strip the keyboard down to clean under the keys. As one point had one key stick down and had to pull it back up. The only other problem I found was it does not like Sabre Wulf :-( loads and when you start the game get just a black screen. So could be one of the games not compatible with ...

Re: Spectrum +3
Well the belt was doing a good impression of a liquorice whirl wrapped around the drive spindle. Hopefully everything went back together properly and will have to wait until I get some 3" disks to check it with. Plenty of dust and muck inside the spectrum case so its now a little bit cleaner an...

Spectrum +3
Just got one sold as untested loft find. It powers up the disk drive made a screeching sound on first power up so quickly unplugged and when plugged in again made what I would call normal disk drive noises. Have new belt to fit. Using scart cable and not aerial lead. May have no sound or may need to...

Re: Plus 2 / 2a / 2b / 3 Keyboard Membranes
Would be nice if there was a source for the +2 Grey membrane. I have two Grey +2's one with a working keyboard and the other with a non-working.
On the non-working machine the one ribbon at some point in the past has been folded over so the traces have broken.

Re: Divmmc vs Divide
Have the Divmmc Future and find it handy to be able to swap from one Spectrum to another and not have to worry about changing jumpers etc.
The only problems found with it is a tight fit on the case of my +2 Grey and does not work with the ZX Interface 1.

Got one coming next August. So would like more information etc.
Mind you mainly use my 48K at present. It's amazing how quickly you get back in the habit of all the key presses to get the various commands when using basic

Sounds like something catching on one of the gears on the tape deck. Else one of the gears not engaging properly and slipping but you say that it is working properly.

Interface 1 & DivMMC Future Problem
Went a bit crazy and bought two interface 1's  Both work fine can access a microdrive. The only problem I have is if have my DivMMC future connected and the SD card insterted the spectrum does not boot to the Sinclair prompt. The border flashes and get ramdom black and white blocks on the scree...
