Re: The best Speccy game by Dinamic Software: vote
West Bank is one of my five most-played Spectrum games, and one I still play today, it's infuriatingly addictive.

Re: First tape/games you got with your ZX Spectrum
Only one that came with my (newly reduced to £125) 48k beauty was Horizons, but I was allowed to pick two games the next day and walked out of Boots with Planetoids and Spectres (the latter of which was always my dad's favourite game).

Re: Your best ZX Spectrum game based on time constraints
5 minutes - Pheenix, decent bit of blasting 15 minutes - Vagan Attack, perfect time for a Trekker 1 hour - Quazatron, love the minigame and the graphics still look lush All Day - Grand Prix Simulator II, nearly 40 years on and I'm still addicted to this, it's the inertia effects that make it so much...

I don't care how controversial it is, I'm voting for the Brum Tache. IIRC Sam Fox even managed to get the ranking of poker hands wrong (did it put a straight above a flush? That's the usual mistake).

Re: Did your parents ever play on your Speccy?
Dad used to play Spectres (or as he called it, Ernie the Electrician). Nothing else, just that one game. He did do a type-in once, but didn't realise he could save it, so just switched it off after playing for 5 minutes...

48K, May 1983, from Boots, a birthday present just after it came down from £175 to £125. Also got ABC's Lexicon of Love LP for £3.99 at the same time.

Getting a sequence of corners right in Grand Prix Simulator 2. You know the inertia will get you in the end, but while the flow lasts it is awesome.

Re: Clone Wars (Star Trek): vote
You know, this is starting to intrigue me - it is obviously the same game with just the title screen and alien name changed*, yet the Crash review in Issue 9 treats it as an original and credits John Green as the author, at a time when Derek Brewster himself was on their staff... the other magazine ...

Woah! I never knew this existed ! And until today I never realised it wasn't an original release from Atlantis - interesting that they not only changed the name and title screen, but also the author - now I realise it was actually written by the estimable Derek Brewster, its quality makes much more...

Only one I've played is the Mikro-Gen one, though I never knew it was originally from MG as I bought the budget re-release on Atlantis - one of my most-played games back in the 80s and one I still return to regularly now.

No-one mentioned Horace Goes Skiing yet? In that case, erm, Horace Goes Skiing - the skiing part is fun but the opening frogger section, oh dear me no, nine times out of ten I'm dead before ever reaching the slopes
