Ian's Baby

When I first loaded up the superb Tau Ceti by Pete Cooke, in late 1989 I believe, I was surprised to see that the BASIC loader was titled "Ian's Baby" and I've always wondered about it ever since. Well I'm glad that the mystery was finally put to rest for me after 3 decades and I hope this...

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Fergus McNeil): vote

I must shamefacedly admit I've not played any of the games apart from trying out Mindfighter and Bored Of The Rings (for a few minutes) to check out the hype. If I had to play one game, which one would it be? Something easy to begin with preferably. Must say his games have pretty nice graphics too. ...

Re: The Elves of Maroland

No, it would not be true to say that DAAD is a Spanish version of the PAW. DAAD was a separate, specially commissioned development system that grew from the PAW, in a similar way to how the PAW itself came from The Quill. DAAD has its own entry in SC. (There *was* a Spanish version of the PAW. But ...

Just a bit of off-topic maybe... Which version seems to have the best graphics? Interestingly, it seems the art was generated by AI according to the credits on the website. Maybe "Art" credit should be updated accordingly? EDIT: Also, the DAAD being referred to here seems to be the. Spani...

Can you please write me a program which has an asterisk in the middle of the screen. If I press one of the Spectrum's cursor keys, then the asterisk moves in that direction. can you add code so that the player cannot move outside the bounds of the screen? there is also a line of dashes that run hor...

Might be worth a few pointers to how you think it is supposed to work, then doubtless someone can put you back on the right lines He had reached out on discord and some suggestions have been put forth to him, in case anyone was wondering about the apparent lack of response from emulation authors. :)

Thundercats, Rygar, North Star and Vixen played basically the same with slight variations here and there, but same game mechanics in all four. And I've probably forgotten some more very similar from back in the day. Shut yer mouth! Thundercats was great, awesome even. Northstar and Vixen (the origi...

This is by the way but... When I wrote The Forest in the early 80s (1983 for the second version, for ZX Spectrum) Very cool! Always nice to run into an author of original software from the 80's. How was your development experience back then? Did you make enough money to buy a Ferrari? ;) I notice t...

Even though I voted for Turbo Espirit, I must admit to spending a lot of time playing Sigma 7. It's a weird mashup of pacman and qbert like mechanics (with none of the charm of either) and some bland flying scrolly shoot-em section bolted on to make up a game that has excellent graphics and sound bu...

Looks spiffy! Love the keyboard and time travel options.I've never heard of the Avalonia framework before, but it seems like a very cool multi platform C# framework. But bugger me, 99 Euros a year? Wow. Makes sense (kinda) if you're a professional .net developer. Anyway, some feedback: * The lack of...

Why not use BASIN instead though? I would think it a lot more convenient to type in BASIC listings but hey, whatever works!

A crash is an unexpected behaviour during the normal course of a program. The BASIC command "NEW" however behaves exactly like it should. So I would argue that it's not a crash in the technical sense. :P
