Re: Suggestion: Add PZX files to the database
At the moment there don't seem to be any PZX tapes anywhere in ZXDB. What would happen if someone created a new game/utility/whatever and made it available only in PZX format? Would it be accepted into ZXDB as-is, or would it need to be converted into a TAP or TZX first? Good question and something...

Re: Suggestion: Add PZX files to the database
If it's coming across as aggressive then that is simply down to the difficulties communicating emotions in the written word. It's certainly not my intention. I was just enquiring what would the benefit of PZX be to anyone who isn't an emulator author. (That's a very niche subset). Your comments see...

Re: Suggestion: Add PZX files to the database
I don't. Which is why I won't ever be downloading PZXes. Or creating them for new games or recovered software. The existing formats are fine for my needs. I would presume this is why others haven't made the switch to PZXes either. That's fine. I dunno why you're being so aggressive about this. I'm ...

Re: Suggestion: Add PZX files to the database
For the end user, there doesn't seem to be any real reason to switch from TZX files to PZX. And ultimately I'm only going to choose an emulator that has TZX support, so it's not going to be any easier for the emulator author. It's a neater file format but I'm struggling to see how you'd sell the be...

Re: Suggestion: Add PZX files to the database
My point is, the advantage of PZX is that it's easier for emulators to support in comparison to TZX. However all emulators already support TZX. Not really. Zero, for eg, doesn't support TZX natively. It supports it by using TZX2PZX DLL in the background (and there are a couple of other emulators th...

Re: Suggestion: Add PZX files to the database
What's the advantage in doing so? If PZX files are just auto converted from TZX, then just storing TZX would be enough. PZX files are a simpler format and easier to implement in emulators and tools. There is no real advantage over TZX in terms of preservation TBH because both do the job. But having...

Suggestion: Add PZX files to the database
I was wondering if there would be any interest in adding PZX file versions of all the games to the database. Most programs already have TAP and TZX versions so this would be yet another tape format for users to choose from. Why PZX? Well, it's the superior tape format and is regarded favourably by m...

Re: How hard is it to write an emulator?
Yet another emulator author here. Let's see, I started out with zero knowledge of how to write an emulator and very minimal knowledge of how the speccy actually works. To add to that, I decided to write it in a language I knew nothing about, C# (to learn). With plenty of hand-holding from Woody and ...

and they already have the letter Joefish posted as evidence of their ownership. At which point the onus falls on SC to attend the hearing, defend their position and present counter evidence showing why the content of the letter is rubbish. As I said before, it's the threat of leading someone down t...

Re: Manic Miner/Jet Set Willy no longer available
Given Manic Miner's copyright is disputable (if I'm reading joefish's comment correctly) I humbly suggest MM should be made available again. If they (SP) truly care about it they will need to submit a takedown request with legal proof etc.

Ian's Baby
When I first loaded up the superb Tau Ceti by Pete Cooke, in late 1989 I believe, I was surprised to see that the BASIC loader was titled "Ian's Baby" and I've always wondered about it ever since. Well I'm glad that the mystery was finally put to rest for me after 3 decades and I hope this...

I must shamefacedly admit I've not played any of the games apart from trying out Mindfighter and Bored Of The Rings (for a few minutes) to check out the hype. If I had to play one game, which one would it be? Something easy to begin with preferably. Must say his games have pretty nice graphics too. ...

Re: The Elves of Maroland
No, it would not be true to say that DAAD is a Spanish version of the PAW. DAAD was a separate, specially commissioned development system that grew from the PAW, in a similar way to how the PAW itself came from The Quill. DAAD has its own entry in SC. (There *was* a Spanish version of the PAW. But ...

Just a bit of off-topic maybe... Which version seems to have the best graphics? Interestingly, it seems the art was generated by AI according to the credits on the website. Maybe "Art" credit should be updated accordingly? EDIT: Also, the DAAD being referred to here seems to be the. Spani...

Might be worth a few pointers to how you think it is supposed to work, then doubtless someone can put you back on the right lines He had reached out on discord and some suggestions have been put forth to him, in case anyone was wondering about the apparent lack of response from emulation authors. :)
