Re: Guess the screen$

I had the game BITD (cannot recall if I actually bought it or if it was a rental), but he was definitely not known in NZ.

While waiting for the next punter I'll just slip in another tough loading screen

Re: Guess the screen$

Since a screen$ is a loading screen, I appreciate Evil Genius steering this thread back to it's true intention, have another (partial) screen$:

And thanks to worldofspectrum.net's infoseek random function for the inspiration. :-)

Re: Machine Code: Moving from Attribute scrolling to pixel scrolling

Within selected 8x8 attribute squares are UDGs which get printed to the screen but because its Attribute scrolling as the UDGs get redrawn there is a flicker. As I understand it I can mitigate this flicker if I do pixel scrolling. No, flicker is caused by not being aware of when you are updating so...

Re: Help Uploading Technical Information on Disciple

For some flavour, I had a DISCiPLE, it was a wonderful piece of kit, easing my upgrade path to the SAM Coupé. At the time I was living in NZ and bought it on our 1987 holiday to The Netherlands at Data-Skip in Gouda, a 5.25" DSDD disk drive was bought in the USA - at Egghead if I recall correct...

Re: Help Uploading Technical Information on Disciple

Question about this part in the doc: Page out the Speccy ROM and enable the Disciple RAM / ROM when the Z80 accesses certain memory addresses (0x0001 (*), 0x0008, 0x0066, 0x28E) or an NMI is generated (snapshot button) The NMI executes a jump to 0x0066 - so why would it need an additional page out?

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Steve Crow): discussion

The questionable ones still in there are just two: Uridium (28th Oct 1986) and its upgraded version, Uridium Plus. Stephen's name is in there, along with Andrew Braybook, Dominic Robinson, John Cumming and Steve Turner, and I think it's very likely this was just graphics, but I'd like to be sure. I...

Re: Showcasing my graphics

Uh-oh, all of Grongy's images are now broken links for me :( There is something very odd going on with zxart.ee. My PC is now fine again (Chrome, Firefox, Edge), but iPhone and iPad on the same local network are not showing most of the images (Safari, Chrome, Edge). Of the current frontpage, the fi...

Re: Additional credit for Flying Shark

Thanks! I'm going to try and create a proper ZX Spectrum list based on that page and other sources I can find, I hate to remove information from the database, you never know why authors are assigned to a particular title, might be the case at some point someone got some insight inside the projects....

Re: With Machine Code how much memory to leave basic

Code: Select all

10 CLEAR VAL "23999": LOAD "" SCREEN$: LOAD "" CODE: RANDOMIZE USR VAL "24000"
You can get 24000 down a bit, but not much, unless you just write your own loader and scribble all over the entire basic area.

Re: Additional credit for Flying Shark

Yeah, was wondering about those two as well. Couldn't find any further info, but only had a quick look... I think you have found Kieren Hawken's brother! Gavin Wade, who has listed being part of a lot of (cancelled) games on his softography is who I think Steve Turner refers to as "the washout...
