Re: Composite to Scart - What am i doing wrong

You might be able to fit a composite connector to that monitor, it has markings for cvbs input, on a lot of those rebadged Philips (cm8833) monitors you can.

Chuckie Egg 2 TAP

Chuckie Egg 2 tap file #ID: 959 loads but does not run instead it returns to basic when a key is pressed.

As the TZX is a standard loader I converted the A'n'F version to TAP and uploaded it here: ChuckieEgg2AnF.tap.zip

Re: The price of Atari Retro

Yes the Flashback 2 is better as it is 'real' hardware and can be modded to accept cartridges whereas this 2600 plus is running Linux/Stella emulator. Supposed to be made in the same factory that made TheC64,500 mini etc

Re: What type of game defines the Speccy?

The "three colour ish" look on the C64 comes from the fact that while the bitmap data on the C64 can be pretty much anywhere in RAM, the colour data is in a fixed location and it's a lot of work for the lethargic 6502 to move that much data in a frame. So games tended to cheat and keep all...

Re: Good enough to be an Ultimate game?

If you compare their core routines: sprites, screen, sound, keyboard, joystick you can see through the various games "evolution". A lot of their routines are always together, it actually makes it easier to understand their code, because you've see it all before in a previous game. Taking ...

Re: Pico based Spectrum ROM interface (photoessay)

Nice work dfzx!
I've seen this done on the c64 and was planning on doing something similar myself!
You could let the PIO and DMA handle all the gpio/address decoding/data writing and leave the CPU free for other interesting ideas!

50.08 Hz for the 48K display, 50.02 Hz for the 128K and this can vary as the Spectrum warms up :)

The C64 actually had a higher resolution screen than the Spectrum 😀
