Re: The Last Jedi

I saw it yesterday and really enjoyed it, though I thought it was maybe 30 minutes too long.

Don’t think it was as good as Rogue One, but I preferred it to the Force Awakes which though I do like, did seem just a copy of A New Hope that didn’t really offer anything new.

Re: Your top-5 sports games

1. Match Day 2 2. Footballer of the Year 3. Football Manager 4. Nigel Mansell’s Grand Prix 5. Jet Bike Simulator I was tempted to include World Games, as I remember playing it a lot, but decided it wasn’t actually good enough to merit a top five place. In fact I don’t think it would make my top ten ...

Re: Poll:The Odin big four

Had to give my vote to Robin of the Wood as it was the only one of the four that I actually played. Fortunately it was a game that I did love and played many, many times, though I didn’t manage to complete it.

Re: Poll: Manic Miner vs Jet Set Willy

Back in the day I preferred JSW, seemed so much more to it and each game could be different, depending on where you go. Nowadays I am quite likely to play MM, as I can have a quick game and see how many screens I can complete before moving on to something else. JSW just seems a bit to open ended for...

Re: CodeMasters - their best efforts

Codemasters are definitely the software house I associate most with my spectrum days, the +2 being my first computer means I obviously wasn’t there at the beginning when the classic early games had their greatest impact. I enjoyed the top down simulators, whether they were on a BMX, a Jet-Ski or in ...

Re: Best magazine covertape

Batty is the one that instantly springs to mind for me. In fact other than that I have no recollection of being impressed by any cover tape game I played. Some of the demo's got me to purchase the game when it came out, I remember playing the demo of Bubble Bobble many times before I got my hands on...

Re: Feud by Bulldog (Mastertronic)

I had Feud, and have to admit I couldn’t get anywhere with it, no matter how many times I played it. Have been surprised when reading on the internet recently that one of its shortcomings was that it was too easy! I’ll put it on my list of games to play when I get my Next, see if I can manage it thi...

Re: The first game you bought

Curse Of Sherwood for me. Although I had plenty of decent Ocean/Imagine hits already supplied with my ZX Spectrum 128K +2 in 1987 (thanks Dixons), the cartoon artwork on this £2 Mastertronic had been rather compelling. I'd stared at a rack of cheap games in Boots in the weeks leading up to getting ...
