Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with Q: discussion

Quetzalcoatl - it had a nice bit of box art and a cool name..? Honestly I thought it was an adventure game, not a 3D maze. Still, at least they coloured it in. I bought Quartet as I liked the idea of Gauntlet done as a run-and-gun game. But on the Speccy it was done with far too much glaring colour...

Re: Tulkk – Deliberation. Colour pixel art.

I think white-yellow-cyan-blue-black works OK as a cooler shade in place of going to magenta and red. I've used light yellow and dark cyan as two alternate colours for shading brass pipes. I think the trick with 'false colours' is to mimic the effect of looking away from a bright colour and seeing i...

Re: Tulkk – Deliberation. Colour pixel art.

I think it looks really good. A few suggestions to tidy it up: The blue and black look good but I think green is going a step too far. I think the dithering on the hair is OK as it seems to fade down into the background rather than remaining solid. Though then it doesn't seem to fade into the backgr...

Re: Race games - how is it done?

If you've ever seen Electraglide on an 8-bit Atari it looks absolutely stunning, with a colourful fast-running road leading to the horizon. But really it's just a flat picture of a triangular road. The road moving is done by colour-swapping on alternate lines, and the curves are done by scroll-shift...

Re: "Go-Go BunnyGun", first screen grabs.

By the way, which looks better, the rocket tail or the bunny-tail? I might just leave both in, as an option... I also can't decide on the colour for the shots. I'd like to have white and yellow, or yellow and red, but I don't want them so bright you fail to see incoming enemy fire. So I've copied th...

Re: "Go-Go BunnyGun", first screen grabs.

It's not going to maintain 2 frames. Probably end up as 3 or 4. I haven't really tested it to be sure yet. I intend to have a slow pixel-scrolling dark stippled background on alternate pixel rows in a band over the middle 1/3 of the screen, with random moving stars above and below. Scenery will be o...

"Go-Go BunnyGun", first screen grabs.

Thought it was time to stick up a screen-grab from the 48K shmup I've started on, ' Go-Go BunnyGun '. The title was going to be just BunnyGun but if it comes down to another software vote I don't want to be in the same place in the alphabet as my only other decent game so far! http://www.railtron.co...

Remember, $6e6f means “no.”
Only if you're big-endian. To a Spectrum $6e6f means getting it "on".
Product of the 80s alright...
