Re: unfortunate typo in crash magazine issue#1

I believe it's the correct spelling. We're all so familiar with its terminology as a sexual crime, but it also means "to plunder" and if you read the sentence in that context it makes more sense. Not very PC but I guess that was in a day and age when that didn't matter as much. Yep, I think you've ...

Re: Standard ROM entrypoints?

Was the 48k ROM image substantially different in the various flavours of Spectrum? In my experience, the entry points documented in the unofficial-but-pretty-much-used-by-everyone ROM disassembly are universal as long as you page in the 48k ROM on the 128k and above machines? That's the only one tha...

Yep, that's the ticket. I modified it slightly for SpecBAS:

Re: Help identifying spectrum hand coded games

Sorry if I'm hijacking your thread, but I've had this small BASIC listing lying around for a while and I'd forgotten where it was from. I was going to post it here to see if anyone knew it, but then I finally found the original from a PET ad in the August 1981 issue of Creative Computing . It's sti...

Re: Feature: Vector Graphics

personally 'vector graphics' make me think of 2d lines only like asteroids, hyperbowl. i would call 3d vectors 'wireframe graphics' and filled polygons as 'solid 3d' Would you class Tempest as wireframe 3D graphics due to the depth effect of the tunnel? Because the original game was most definitely...

Re: Feature: Vector Graphics

Anyway, it really means anything you display on screen (real-time computation) based on geometry and maths, as opposed to bitmaps or pre-rendered images. Yeah that is exactly what I think the group should be for, so, perhaps what I can do is check the list and extract the software that is not using...

Following like a madman here too, this is fascinating. Bit more of a write-up of what optimisations you make as you make them (with sources so we can follow along) would be gratefully received by the whole community, I'm sure.

Re: Feature: Vector Graphics

Given that the Speccy isn't capable of vector graphics, I'd say we're going for the overall look - it's simulating vector graphics. The line, if you'll pardon the pun, becomes blurred as it does for any classification. The Kung Fu graphics are constructed with lines and not simply blitted - but does...
