Re: ZX Spectrum Next Discussion

I remember, back in... oh. 2006 or 2007, being very very excited for the new Open Pandora console. I had a GP32 and GP2X and this was gonna bring linux/ARM handhelds right up to date. Powerful hardware in a portable package. Pre-orders started in 2008 and I jumped in for a measly (as it turned out) ...

Re: Best way to learn?

Hey, just a heads-up - if you're learning BASIC on a Speccy, give the BASIC group on Facebook a try. It's chock full of really enthusiastic folk who adore our little language: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ZXBasic/ As well as popping your queries in here, of course. And as a group we all recommend...

The Great North WoS/SC/CSS Meet

As x-posted to WoS/FB, Marko, myself and a few others like to have a northern UK meetup - we've usually held them at Carlisle or Manchester, usually around the time the clocks go back (October this year). The usual WoS meet is generally held in the south which precludes many of us from the north, so...

Re: CraPONG! v1.1 Experimental software in BASIC compiled

It's pixel plotting (or rather, DRAW using INVERSE to un-draw the top/bottom lines as the paddles move vertically) and using CIRCLE (with INVERSE again to remove the ball as it moves) it's compiled so it does move smoothly though. The small m/c stub at the end appears to modify the font. https://cal...

Cool. You may want to watch this:

Not the same algorithm (at all) and slightly buggy on the hills, but here's my efforts in BASIC:

Re: BasinC oddnesses

Ah, I know what's going on there. BASin works on the code held in Spectrum RAM - it doesn't store it as text anywhere while editing. If you don't press ENTER to submit the line, then it doesn't exist. There may be other bugs. As I said previously, I'll look into it when I get time.

Re: BasinC oddnesses

Oh, I don't ignore people - I do listen, but I have strict criteria as to what BASin is, and what it can do. I will be going back to it at some point and fixing the bugs - once I've gotten bored of SpecBAS, that is. I've a ZXSpin re-write on the cards too, and that will likely be getting all of BASi...
