Oh! I know this one! Isn't it also something about RISC-V and RISC-OS dominating something or other?

Re: Suggestion :Developers please try to also create Appimages for linux
Interesting that WINE performance is bad - it's not emulating anything, and the OpenGL usage in SpecBAS is literally just a simple quad blit once per frame. The rest of SpecBAS will all be native Linux binary when it's running. I'll look into a native linux build but the linux build environment (FPC...

But if you want my opinion, the most compatible target in 2024 would be Win32. Just do that and I can use it with Wine. I believe I can now use Spin and Basin this way too, so no worries. And with those 3 I have all my needs covered. Would be interested to hear how SpecBAS runs under WINE - it's bu...

Well I can present the bank statement from whence my money departed, if that would help anyone understand (or investigate) my position! But this is a distraction from the wannabe Apprentice reject in question and will only get the thread locked. Whence == "From where" so you don't n...

Re: Head Over Heels (Next)
I'm loving the extra rooms on the map, less so the changes to the graphics like the toasters when difficulty levels are set lower. As far as HoH games go I gotta say I prefer Tomaz Kac's remake over this one, but it's a close finish.

Re: New multi platform emulator - Speculator
It's looking promising, certainly. Getting a few errors in the test suites but if this is an early stage of development, it's going real well so far.
I do hope the author decides to join the speccy discord, the emulation chat in there is incredibly helpful.

I seem to be doing something wrong... :) I copied the text, save it to a file, tried to load it into SpecBAS, got error 31 LOAD failed, 0:1 I tried to copy and paste into SpecBAS editor, I choose RUN from the menu, I get this window: Your version of SpecBAS is too old. Crash magazine 16bit special.
Hey you lot -
I recall Crash did a special in one of the issues where they look at 16bit games (Amiga mostly) and featured F/A-18 Interceptor and Ferrari Formula 1. I can't find it though; google is heavily polluted these days.
Anyone got any kind of clue here? Cheers

Re: What does ZX mean?
There was an intern working at Sinclair, kind of a work experience kind of deal, and Clive said to the guy "We need a name that gets us to the top in any list, you know like how Google chose a name that would appear at the start of an alphabetical list of websites" - but the poor sod didn'...

Re: New snap format that convenient for view/modify
I would like to ask why you're not using an emulator that has a decent debugger/memory viewer built in which lets you examine RAM and make changes and then you can save your stuff out as whatever snapshot format you want.

Re: Sinclair Basic compiler IDE ?
Yes, BASin was never finished and likely, as a compiler, will never be; I've moved on to pastures new I'm afraid - Spectrum BASIC on a PC is way more fun than it ever was on a Spectrum - but you should be able to compile with a native compiler. Don't expect amazing m/c performance though, you're sti...

Re: Zx Omni what is it? Is it any good?
Hi, Anybody found a way to update ESXDOS in ZX Omni ? Issue 4 is based on AT28C256 (compared to AT28C64 in standard divMMC), as I understand it contains two version of ESXDOS and two of UnoDOS. Unfortunately EEPROM is soldered, so any jumper configuration to enable flash ? You cannot flash the EEPR...

Re: ZX Spectrum +3 Manual as you've never seen it before
Section 19, the PLAY chapter, is missing a diagram and instead has an ascii representation of the stave etc. It's badly broken on a couple of lines.
