...I also note that at the end there's a jumbled message and a phone number to call to receive a prize. Anyone any idea what that prize was? Or, indeed, can unjumble the message? I assume it's an anagram but I can't figure it out... https://i.postimg.cc/xJ7c8T7w/dd.jpg Details in the disassembly

Re: Master your ZX Microdrive - Second Edition
The following problems relate to the old ROM only - they have all been corrected in the new ROMs. 10. NETWORKING PROBLEM If a SAVE*"N" is done, and the fourth byte in the final "N" buffer hap- pens to be 205 then the machine crashes. It is caused by the value of register IX bein...

Master your ZX Microdrive - Second Edition
There was a second edition of Master your ZX Microdrive book that "details the differences between the three types of Interface 1"... https://twitter.com/warmtoffee/status/1302178881361924096 After two failed attempts to get hold of the second edition, the third time has indeed been the ch...

Re: PDF manuals
It seems that this error was introduced when the author initially ocr'ed and fixed the manual - see http://hayne.net/Spectrum/HiSoftBASIC/ The easy confirmation is to write a basic program with the inverse keyword and see if it does indeed compile to code 120. On a side note, the lack of alternativ...

Re: How much self modifying code was there and did it do anything?
Self modifying code is great It can be used to make "things" relocatable - i.e load some code into memory exactly (within reason) where you want it to run and execution will " fixup " itself A good example is HiSoft Devpac GENS & MONS A 1981 relocation article from a TRS-80 c...

I've posted before about the Interface One transmitting at non-standard baud rates under emulation
Seems like the real hardware will actually do it as well...

Re: Any emulators able to pause on completon of loading?
Just a thought... activating the IF1 will bump out the system variables by 58 bytes Loading a file from the microdrive will also consume some further 595 bytes Once the file is loaded, those 595 bytes should be released But those extra system variables will still persist Maybe consider collapsing th...
