Re: How do you organise your favourites
I use GameBase and have everything neatly organised within. In the screen below, everything's in alphabetical order with anything bold being a Crash Smash. I have the loading screen and in-game screen for each game, there's links to maps, instructions, pokes and walkthroughs, depending on the set-up...

Re: Dopamine hits - moments in Spectrum gaming that give you immense satisfaction
Some of the first games I played were Arcadia, Escape, Space Raiders and Manic Miner. All finish-the-screen-and-move-on games.
On playing Jet Set Willy, I genuinely couldn't believe I could move from room to room at will whether I picked up the objects in it or not.
Blew me away.

Ultimate's decision to use QWERT as up, down, left, right and fire.
Got used to it eventually, but it was no QAOPM.

Re: Are the YS writers still "around"?
Coincidentally, I was today reading the Nov 2004 issue of Your Sinclair which came with Retro Gamer and had a cover feature on YS writers entitled 'Where are they now?'. There's also a bit of history from Phil South. Portrait photos taken and uploaded below - I stress portrait as when I look at the ...

If you existed at the height of the Spectrum years, your name would be as famous as Bob Wakelin or Joffa Smith.

Arctic's World Cup.
I submitted an entry to the Congraturations Archive years ago where I think I won the cup with the Philippines or someone equally as unlikely. I think I could do that 10 times in a row no bother and be home for teatime.

I've extracted the 6 pages from that issue and saved them as a PDF (under 1mb), uploaded below.
I hope that's OK to do - if not, please delete.

Both are smooth as butter but I prefer the multicolour of the two. The moment the colour change happened at the 31 second mark, it instantly looked more authentic, although the former is also a fine looking game.
There's a nice sense of inertia to the barrels, too. Well done.

Re: Golf on the ZX Spectrum
The only golf game I had was (I think) Pro Golf by Atlantis: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/entry/3886/ZX-Spectrum/Pro_Golf Wasn't a great game, but was notable to me because of the way I bought it. Went into either WH Smith or John Menzies and picked a game out of a book in a binder, then the memb...

I've posted before that Mr. Wimpy's keys were quite intuitive, being A, S, X, N & M, with A being fire.

I went for Rocky Horror as it's the one I played the most. I've no doubt Academy & Tau Ceti are better and more worthy games, but I've never played them - probably a bit too clever for me.

Re: Christmas High Score Challenge Week 3 (Moley Christmas & The Official Father Christmas Game)
I only got 840 in Moley Christmas - can't even get off the first screen after maybe 30 attempts. Played it last year for the first time and was the same then. It's not for me. Tried the Santa game and delivered the presents to America, but it then asked me to do the same for another country and I'd ...

Re: Obviously terrible design calls
Ultimate's default choice of keyboard controls being QWERT, when something like QAOPM would have made more sense.
I know nothing about coding - would they have had available space to include a redefine keys option?

Re: [Video] Mr. Wimpy
Other than the standard QAOPM for keys, I thought Mr. Wimpy had the second best (and something I'd never have came up with myself) ASXNM, with 'A' being the fire button. Why Ultimate used QWERT and didn't have a redefine option, or something more sensible, is beyond me. Anyway, sorry to go off at a ...

Not adding much here, but in a database of Amiga games, there's an entry for Adidas Golden Shoe by Ocean France. It's marked as unreleased. Link here: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:MDj_QwguWGsJ:hol.abime.net/hol_search.php%3FN_ref_publisher%3D441+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=cln...

I would've voted for Wizard's Lair in the original poll but was on holiday. Just voted for WOTEF in the tiebreaker and made it level at 21 votes apiece. Had no idea it was so close. Sorry.

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with S: discussion
That's the toughest so far - scanning down the list I changed my mind four times. In previous polls, there's been games which I probably 'should' have voted for (being worthier) but never played, but I've played the majority here and it'll be hard to come to a conclusion.

I haven't heard of him being associated with the Design Design games before, but he's clearly listed on the database as having a hand in authoring them. He doesn't even list them on his own website. I know of the Chris Clarke association with Crystal Computing being renamed Design Design, but that's...
