Happy Easter folks!
Although I am definitely taking a (long) pause from retro-related activities, I would like to wish all of you... Happy Easter! Buona Pasqua! Frohe Ostern! ¡Felices Pascuas! Feliz Páscoa! Bona Pasca! Would you like a slice of my self-made pastiera? Baked according to the original recipe, with sheep r...

Felice Anno Nuovo! Happy New Year! 2024 will mark the 40th anniversary of my acquaintance with the Spectrum. On some day in January 1984, a 10-and-a-half years old Sicilian boy was touching the rubber keyboard of a 16K Spectrum for the first time... and 40 years later, he is creating games for it :d...

I played the coin-op back in the day in its original form and this was a feature of the game. You must beat the bikers before tackling the rest of the gang.

Thank you for your comments. akeley : Joan Of Arc was a favorite of mine on the Atari ST, I even played it through the end. As far as I know, there are no Spectrum games set in the Hundred Years' War, which is a real pity, considering how interesting that historical setting is. EdToo Yes, there is s...

Just downloaded it, I am sure it will be as excellent and hilarious as the previous instalments! And maybe even more!

The first and third instalments were quite enjoyable, good for their price. But the second... nice graphics and presentation, but lacking in substance.

I first saw one of these at the VIGAMUS in Rome. This is a photo I took of it in 2012 for an article for the gamesark.it website:

I bought some from Data Serve Retro years ago: https://www.dataserve-retro.co.uk/contents/en-uk/p2175_Sinclair-ZX-Spectrum-16K-_-48K-_Rubber-Key_-Keyboard-Membrane.html They are of very good quality. However the website says that "The website shop is currently closed due to illness and you will...

In Sir Fred and Sophia II, the main sprite changes when the character is swimming.

Re: Speccy golf - a good computer spoiled
Hi, I made a TZX file out of both for my personal archive that loads the first course (didn't check the other, honest) with Spectaculator and SpecEmu.
Maybe you could try it and see if it works for you.

Re: TAP files for DivIDE/DivMMC
Hi @8BitSC,
I tried to create a working TAP file myself but was unable to make it.
To my experience, it is better to save a SNA snapshot file under your favorite emulator upon loading and use that instead. Sorry (for that and for the late reply as well).

Yes, I also noticed that lately. If Julian cannot provide a final executable, the best you can do is to download libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll and libstdc++-6.dll from an external source and place them in the executable's directory, or in a directory placed under the PATH system variable. By the way, sorry for...

The files do exist, you can download them from the official web page at https://zanklesoft.itch.io/apulija-13
They should be added to the archive then.
P.S. Sorry for the late reply

Re: DIVMMC Enjoy Pro support Bob Fossil's long filename browser?
I have an earlier model of the EnJoy, the one with the four jumpers on the side, and it supports Bob Fossil's browser, with the BIN and SYS folders taken from the "No_MMC_Memory" set as the interface has no such feature.
Therefore I think the newer model should support it as well.

Re: How long have you been part of the Speccy Retro Scene?
In the summer of 1998 I discovered that there were programs that could emulate the working of a Spectrum on a PC. And this was not the first taste of emulation I experienced; I began with MAME about two years earlier. At the same time I subscribed to WoS, then before the great system crash of 2001 w...
