Re: The best unplayable demo on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: vote

I went with Trantor as it was at least a cinematic experience.

I do wonder if some of these were rolling demos because they already realised that the gameplay sucked.

Re: Quazatron - how many cities?

Wow, I never realised that it had 8 citadels!

So the map in the archive is only the first citadel!

The walkthroughs only seem to cover the first citadel, too.

Re: Guess the screen$

An early one from a duo that would go on to create some mid 80's classics.

Controls really get in the way of this one.

I thought it was Schizofrenia, when I figured out how to spell it, but it looks like it's actually from Headstart. although they are almost the same game.

It's not that - you fell into the trap.

It has the same perspective and similar style graphics that I think have been ported (badly) from CPC mode 0 graphics.

Re: Guess the screen$

It's a Spectrum game - has colour and everything.

Budget game by a big publisher, but not widely reviewed.

Needs a map and an RZX creating, if anyone is bored,

Could it be drawing too much power from the 5V pin?

Wow, Lee hasn't posted on WOS since September 2023, and hasn't logged in since January 6th this year!

He seems to be more active on the Facebook group than the forum.

According to ZXDB it was a full price game by a big publisher, but both big mag reviews are for a budget release.
Given the quality, I can't imagine it was sold for long at full price.

Re: Guess the screen$

The cyan and yellow, put me in mind of Melbourne House, and the large black outlines around the other colours made me think of Asterix.

How about this steaming turd of a game?

Re: Guess the screen$

That narrows it down to the even more obscure than Tuareg (at least I've never heard of it before) Murray Mouse Supercop . :D I figured it couldn't be that obscure as it had two OK mag reviews, was released by CodeMasters, had two user reviews, and someone recently modded it with 128K music ported ...

Re: Blasphemy! Your favourite C64 SID chiptunes...

I'm not personally a fan of how the SID chip sounds but you can't argue it was an excellent sound chip and there were so many great tunes on that system which sadly never came to the Speccy. One thing to note is that the two main variants can sound quite different, and even between chips of the sam...

Re: Guess the screen$

I searched for later original period games, title screens only, ordered by magazine score, then started paging back through from the end. I found Bronx on page 49 out of 101, and checked the credits on that one - was still on the no mag scores games at that point. Only took about 20 minutes in total.
