Re: Replaying all the games in Crash issue one.

Love Ant Attack and was so chuffed when I unexpectedly completed it back in the day. Spectron needs an issue 2 keyboard selecting. For some reason it's listed as inspired by Berzerk when it's more of a Robotron 2084 clone. It's not actually bad for a compiled UDG-based game, although a twinstick con...

Re: The best Speccy game by Future Stars: vote

1. Ali Bebe - This gets the nod because they made some effort with the maze graphics - good for younger players, as colourful and not brutally difficult.
2. Krypton Raiders - Smooth movement is good, but very lazy brick pattern background graphics.
3. Tommy - Nothing good here

Re: Context-sensitive buttons in ZX Spectrum game...?

Lots of games use proximity to an interactive object to switch the firebutton from attack to interact.

Spy vs Spy uses a single firebutton to mean search, attack, place trap, open door, close door, move ladder, move carpet depending on context

Re: The best unplayable demo on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: vote

I went with Trantor as it was at least a cinematic experience.

I do wonder if some of these were rolling demos because they already realised that the gameplay sucked.

Re: Quazatron - how many cities?

Wow, I never realised that it had 8 citadels!

So the map in the archive is only the first citadel!

The walkthroughs only seem to cover the first citadel, too.

Re: Guess the screen$

An early one from a duo that would go on to create some mid 80's classics.

Controls really get in the way of this one.

I thought it was Schizofrenia, when I figured out how to spell it, but it looks like it's actually from Headstart. although they are almost the same game.

It's not that - you fell into the trap.

It has the same perspective and similar style graphics that I think have been ported (badly) from CPC mode 0 graphics.

It's a Spectrum game - has colour and everything.

Budget game by a big publisher, but not widely reviewed.

Needs a map and an RZX creating, if anyone is bored,

According to ZXDB it was a full price game by a big publisher, but both big mag reviews are for a budget release.
Given the quality, I can't imagine it was sold for long at full price.
