Re: HELP WANTED: Magazine type-in page numbers!

I forgot to mention that submitted fixes won't appear online immediately. They will be included in the following ZXDB update (about a week later). Therefore if you are willing to help, it's probably a good idea to mention it in this thread to avoid someone else doing exactly the same magazine. EDIT:...

A few book reviews appeared in SU #8 page 37, that are currently associated with SU #8 supplement "Spectrum User" but they appeared in the main issue.

There are also 5 game reviews in pages 28 and 31 of C&VG #27, that ZXSR incorrectly assigned to this issue's supplement "Book of Adventure" but they appeared in the main issue.

HELP WANTED: Magazine type-in page numbers!

Right now we have about 200 type-ins in the archive, where we know the magazine issue they were published, but not the page number: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/list?bug=r&mode=1&order=1 Locating the correct page numbers is not an easy task, especially considering that almost all of them ...

Re: New Database Model ZXDB

I don't think these generated tables should be put together with the main data. Certain sites may have no use for them (for instance ZXInfo uses ElasticSearch instead of queries). Others may choose a different convention to display information such as publishers (in case of a title originally publis...

Re: New Database Model ZXDB

We have been collaborating for quite some time helping each other and exchanging data, which benefits both sites. This relea...

Re: starting with elias-gamma

ONCE zx0 is made on ZX it will save a lot of (reeeaaal) loading time from 13k to say 3-8 k IF i use a (real) loading scheme that is a turbo type then the 3-9k will act like 1.5 to 4k or even faster... These benefits (from using data that was compressed with ZX0) will be exactly the same, regardless...

In theory, the ZX0 compressor should work in a Z80 machine. However you probably won't be able to compress data blocks larger than 1K and, even so, it will probably take a VERY long time to run.

I don't think that's a good idea...

Re: starting with elias-gamma

Notice there's "classic" Elias gamma coding (that's explained in Wikipedia ) and the more efficient "interlaced" Elias gamma coding. There are also other variants such as Exponential-Golomb coding (see Wikipedia ). It's identical to Elias gamma coding except starting at 0 instead...

I think so.

Re: New Database Model ZXDB

why was the library_title removed in the first place? Because it's an automatically generated field. Imagine the following analogy with programming. Suppose you are creating a game where every sprite also needs the corresponding mirrored version, and it's not viable to generate them during runtime....

Re: 3D Monster Maze (2018 colour remake)

Good work!

I also enjoyed the story, except I think this sentence sounds weird:
There are no lights but there’s enough light to easily see by.
Perhaps it would sound better this way:
There are no light sources but still enough ambient light to easily see by.
