In theory, the ZX0 compressor should work in a Z80 machine. However you probably won't be able to compress data blocks larger than 1K and, even so, it will probably take a VERY long time to run.

I don't think that's a good idea...

Re: starting with elias-gamma

Notice there's "classic" Elias gamma coding (that's explained in Wikipedia ) and the more efficient "interlaced" Elias gamma coding. There are also other variants such as Exponential-Golomb coding (see Wikipedia ). It's identical to Elias gamma coding except starting at 0 instead...

I think so.

I will make this change.

Re: New Database Model ZXDB

why was the library_title removed in the first place? Because it's an automatically generated field. Imagine the following analogy with programming. Suppose you are creating a game where every sprite also needs the corresponding mirrored version, and it's not viable to generate them during runtime....

Re: 3D Monster Maze (2018 colour remake)

Good work!

I also enjoyed the story, except I think this sentence sounds weird:
There are no lights but there’s enough light to easily see by.
Perhaps it would sound better this way:
There are no light sources but still enough ambient light to easily see by.

Re: Little bugs in the database 4

This problem wasn't forgotten. However there's over a thousand cases of "renamed from/to" companies. Many of those are inverted, many are not... It won't be an easy fix.

I have been working on this fix, but it's still going to take some time.

Re: A can of worms with multiple genres

Look, I know it seems trivial to simply allow each game be classified in multiple genres. I think it's worth it to explain why it's not, the consequences of this change, and the reason this kind of change would need to be planned and rediscussed in this forum first... Current classification system h...

Re: A can of worms with multiple genres

We are still at step 1: 1.) We use this forum to discuss and decide the new classification system. Although we can always refine the classification later, ideally we should try to make the best decisions possible in advance, because every change would require reclassifying lots of games all over aga...

Re: ZX Spectrum Top 100 games collection (feat. 274 titles)

I did have a look at SCORES tab on the main page and thought I will find it there...but was kinda in a rush and didn't look further. Shouldn't it be up there too, @PeterJ ? WoS scores are featured after all. This site has 2 score menus. One accessible from the main page (showing scores based on mag...

Serbian magazine "Svet Kompjutera"

About these Serbian titles:

https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/list?label_id=14106

Some of them (perhaps all?) were originally published as type-in at magazine Svet Kompjutera.

If you understand Serbian, could you please try to find any of these programs in the magazine?

I agree, although in this case the information was added without citing any source - see https://worldofspectrum.org/forums/discussion/54248/ Gennady Demidenko is the editor of Legends Of Bytes , a magazine specialized in classic game developers. Therefore this kind of information from him is quite...

Re: Little bugs in the database 6

I'm guessing that The Open Door was originally released in 1987 (not 1988) and it first appeared in compilation 6 in 1.

Is this information correct?

Re: Dr. Acula

There's one final change, this time to improve layout of level 49. Although it didn't prevent from completing the game, thus there's no need to start it all over again if you already had version 1.03R...

Otherwise you can download the final version 1.04R from Colin's site.

Note from admin. The authors have requested that you download the latest copy from here. Thanks!

Another bug: level 45 could not be completed due to a dead-end.

I reported it to Colin, that released another fix. Please download version 1.03R from the link above (Text edited by admin)

Easy level gives you a little more time, and it flashes the next coffin piece that you need to pick up.
