Re: The Computer Cookbook

The Sinclair Programs reviews rather pointedly points out the pitfalls of using it https://archive.org/stream/sinclair-pro ... 6/mode/1up

Re: The best Speccy game by Players Software: discussion

A friend of a friend wrote Metal Army (Mark Haden). They met when they started working together at a company on business applications in the early 90's. Went out drinking with them a few times back in the day. Mark also worked as an apprentice/work-experience with Follis and Carter at Gargoyle Games...

Re: SQL for dummies

Yes, it's the same syntax. Your query works perfectly, except column entries.is_mod doesn't exist anymore in latest ZXDB versions. There's now a new table relations that stores all information about games related to other games. A certain game is considered a "mod" if this game ID is stored in this...

Re: The best Speccy game by Mastertronic: vote

Fair enough that Finders Keepers won. I think it was pretty much the first budget game that could be realistically compared to full-pricers, and is rightfully considered a classic. Shame that Kikstart II didn't win as it's such a brilliant game, which was criminally underrated by most of the mags at...

1. Spellbound
2. 180
3. Zub

Special mention to Stormbringer for that 128K tune though. Still think it's one of the best 8-bit chip-tunes of all time - right up there with C64's Monty On The Run.
