Re: What makes you continue your Spectrum interest?

I think your first love always leaves a mark, and some very good memories. Playing games, that we have played before in the 80's, triggers memories of good times, playing with friends. Playing new modern ZX games, brings the feeling of novelty and discovery that we had back then, when buying or copy...

Re: Video: A quick unboxing and look at Retro Radionics Omni Desktop 128k

Seems interesting, but it leads us to believe it's a 48K, that in fact it's not :(

Is it a 128K compatible in a small board?
I had a quick look at the website, and it's not clearly obvious on a quick view.

It's possible to 64x24 or 32x48 by just combining ink|papper without raster tricks
Yes, but we will always get a rectangular "pixel", either vertical or horizontal, respectively.

why is the number being compared to 10,20,40?
...
Those are just multiples of 5, that match the specific bit that will be set, if condition holds true.

40 / 5 = 8 (bit3)
20 / 5 = 4 (bit2)
10 / 5 = 2 (bit1)

Re: 48K Issue 6A

Finally got some time yesterday, to work on this again. I just tried using my new Hot Hair blower/SMD re-work station, and started removing the hottest memory chip in upper memory. Since chips are so close to each other, I had to removed 2 instead of one. Checked for solder splatters, and then teste...

Re: NOXROM Cartridge

^^^ Sounds good.. you mean an interface to make Sinclair macines manage up to 80K? I assume games which are based on that limit would work on Amstrad machines too Most probably it will not be an interface, since you have to manage the following (t least): - replace high memory with new 64K 4116 chi...

Re: Extruder

I found a video, by someone that plays well enough to show the true colors of this game.

But 2 humans battling each other, is a lot more fun to watch/play.

Re: NOXROM Cartridge

I have been thinking on something for some time, which is to find a way to make use of the actual extra memory on a ZX Spectrum 48K. To save some bucks, ZX spectrums use 8 times 64Kx1 bit memory chips, but they either user the lower or the upper part of the chip (only 32K, since the other part is fl...
