Re: A conviction arising from the ZX Vega+ debacle

I was a backer and followed the whole debacle

Check C27 (and, perhaps, C26).
Thanks, can anyone point me at a PCB layout diagram for the Toastrack 6U?

Toastrack Toroid

I was getting an occassional problem with my toastrack displaying black and white vertical bars on boot. This seems to be because the toroid is quite "loose" and looks like it happens if it presses down on the PCB. Mine has bare wires and does not look as if they've been well wound. What's...

Re: Issue 2 Board - Upper memory replacement

Mark you are a superstar. I made the repairs as suggested I found a continuity problem on pin 4 between 20-21-22 a quick track repair and another Spectrum is back into working order. Thanks Dave ps. Are you sure about pin 11 in your checklist? I had no connectivity between any of the chips on this b...

Issue 2 Board - Upper memory replacement

I am nearly there on restoring my 48k Spectrum project with only the upper RAM failing I am in the process of socketing the chips and today removed IC20 and IC19. However when the chip came off the board I noticed some very thin wire coming out of pin 4 on IC20. I also noticed the tracks cut in the ...

BASIC Programming workflow on MAC

I am a MAC user and it looks like my best option is -ZXBasic -Sublime syntax highlighting -FUSE I looked at the Kliveide project but it is not stable and I had issues with it on my M1 iMac Was just wondering if any other Ma...

That's all done and my Rom is telling me to replace IC 9 (4116) and ICs 18,21,22 (4532) now to hunt for components

Re: Spectrum+ Keyboard (possibly daft question)

Yes a Switch Mode 7805 arrived from Retroleum today.

As well as a diagnostic Rom so I can try and fix the poorly plus motherboard. I suspect it is RAM chips as I have a border and the occasional startup message.

Spectrum+ Keyboard (possibly daft question)

Can an issue 4B rubber key spectrum board be dropped into a Spectrum+ which currently has an issue 2 board inside?

I have a working rubber key but poorly Spectrum+ but obviously prefer the keyboard. When I tried this only a few keys worked on the + which may mean the membrane needs replacing.
