Re: Pacman RX WIP
Alien Blast looks good. If only the sounds were more authentic! I think that’s where Pacman RX’s attention to detail really comes through.

1 AMC
2 West Bank
Never really got anywhere else with the others!
Cue Dinamic jokes.
Dinamic games are so hard, the Speccy’s scared to colour clash.

Re: Guardian article on the best video games magazines
I don’t have time to read it but my favourite old mags were; 1 YS and my goodness how much did I love that magazine! 2 GamesX for its lovely typography and layout 3 C&VG because it was nice seeing other formats and it generated a bit of excitement if the Speccy popped up in it By the time I had ...

Re: Games you played the most with friends?
Yep, same here too: Gauntlet, Target Renegade and Bubble Bobble. Also games like Colony, in which we took turns to keep the game going. Other games that spring to mind are Pi r squared, Geoff Capes, Manic Miner, Cauldron, Wizball and Action Force II. There were probably loads we played with our mate...

Re: Coincidence!
Michael Sheard, I think his name was.
We all rather enjoyed Auf Wiedersehen Pet. Being from just south of Birmingham, it amused us that Barry eventually ended up in Droitwich.
I also married a Geordie. You can imagine what family get togethers are like!

Ha. I guess not. I think I’ve become my mother by adding an ‘s’ to things. Still, it’s funny winding my son up by misnaming bands (‘The One Directions’ anyone?)!StanVanman wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 11:32 pm Well, it wouldn't be arcade perfect if it was called "Galaxians"

1. Flashpoint 2. Batty 3. Blob the Cop I can’t remember how Flashpoint played now except that my brother and I played it a lot - presumably trying to figure out what you were supposed to do. It looked pretty. We didn’t have Batty but a mate did and we played it at his house. Then he’d want to put Wi...

Sterling work! Well done.
I wonder what you’ll turn your attention to next? I’d love to see an arcade perfect version of Galaxians.

Re: The best 'Special Edition' promo on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: vote
1) Lords Of Chaos . The inferior sequel to The Greatest Game On Any System Ever, but that's fine, it's part of the Chaos canon and it's refreshing to have a 'linear' Chaos. I have similar feelings for games from the Rebelstar and Laser Squad universes. 2) Cybernoid II . I've been umming and erring ...

1 Lords of Chaos
2 Cybernoid II
3 Rex
Wow, that’s a good selection. I never bought Rex, and should probably play it at some point. Those demos led me to buying the other two.

Re: Coincidence!
Speaking of games themselves, wasn’t there a game that purposefully repurposed sprites for its own game? I seem to remember it being Starquake like in terms of play. Did it feature Cybernoid sprites or something?
Or were the sprite designs coincidence?

Going off topic, but that’s why I prefer lower league and grassroots football nowadays. I run two U15 youth teams and the boys regularly ask who I support. Truth is, I don’t support anyone anymore.

Re: RIP F David Thorpe
He was quite an artist that knew how to get the best out of the Speccy’s graphical capabilities. I love his loading screens. Full of drama, shadow and light, and colour.
I’m glad he lived to a ripe old age as we’ve lost too many, too young.

Looked like Octon to me, but more a memory of the cartoon than the game. I think YS may have had a demo.
