Re: The best Speccy game by Dinamic Software: vote
While I voted Don Quijote, I think Rescate Atlantis deserves more love, is one of the best Dinamic games (good graphics with scroll like AMC, good in-game music like Simulador, and very playable), so my proportional votes: 1.Don Quijote 2.Rescate Atlantis 3.Phantomas Other games that I can remember ...

You can have the different palettes stored somewhere and then load one or another, but you can't swich them with a simple OUT.

Re: The best Speccy game by Dinamic Software: vote
A lot of good graphics, some nice tunes (Simulador Professional de Tenis), but BITD one I liked a lot was a text adventure, Don Quijote (it was a cartoon TV series too), so it's my vote.

Re: Why didn't the Spectrum have an FPS?
Agree. Some 3D labyrinths with foes qualify as proto-FPS.bluespikey wrote: ↑Thu May 09, 2024 2:15 pm Theres no shooting in 3D Monster Maze, but what about Zigzag from 1984? Plus it had a great death animation when you catch up with the baddies.

Re: Why didn't the Spectrum have an FPS?
On the ZX, I guess Castle Master could qualify as a proto-fps, with insistence on "proto" (I'm not sure if other Freescape games have some shooting?). Almost all have the "shooting" function ( if not all, not sure). I played a lot BITD Driller and to me it's a proto-FPS all the ...

Re: How do I convert Sinclair BASIC into Boriel BASIC?
I read somewhere that it also take cues from FreeBASIC; Well, FreeBASIC is too based in QBASIC (like QB64) so at the end is the same. Structured BASIC vs. Unstructured BASIC. I'm not user of Boriel, although I see it as very interesting and have tested it a bit, but others will give you better advi...

Re: How do I convert Sinclair BASIC into Boriel BASIC?
Boriel is more like Qbasic, it's not very difficult to port from the Spectrum BASIC, but you need to understand a bit how each work. I'm not aware of an official IDE, but you can use a standard text editor (programmers oriented) like Programmers Notepad and similar. PS: maybe you can test first the ...

I've corrected some of the MicroHobby ones (not all, only a few), between 1988 and 1991 (see https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/zxdb/ad ... ishers.php for details).

Re: gigaviewer
Yes, a lot of LCD screens will, entirely as a side effect of their image processing, hide the flickering you'd normally see. The distinction is more obvious on an old school CRT. Side note: this information maybe should be added at https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/list?group_id=1060 When I think in ...
