Re: Issues changing email address on other site (WoS)

I'm happy to add other users that are unable to log in to the WoS forums to my topic on WoS forums. Please quote your WoS forum user name. And it helps if you PM / DM your old and new email addresses in case Lee or another WoSf admin asks for them. Mark Sorry if my poor English doesn't completely u...

Re: Issues changing email address on other site (WoS)

If someone could help me to get my account back on the other site, it would be nice too.

The off-topic section there is really nice.

EDIT1: (Note that my old email is unavailable now, so my new address is the same mail address as the one I'm using on here.)

Re: Issues changing email address on other site (WoS)

Yeah, their mail address thing has been broken for as far as i can remember.

This is why I came here, as I lost my old email, and changing it on some other site doesn't work.

I'm not holding my breath for that being fixed any more.

Re: Bank switching issue

It's only complicated because of your setup.

If you put your stack and interrupt related stuff in bank 2, then you can skip half of the steps.

But it's really not a big deal if you keep your stuff in bank 0.

I also wonder if anything from the Shaws, or the Shaw Brothers should be here either.

Especially as we just had the Iron Soldier thing in the other poll already.

Re: The best exclusive game from a recognised brand on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: vote

I'm going to base this one based on how much I've played back in the day instead of how good it was. :) 1. Hyper Active. Given that, importantly, this being one of the first cover tapes I got (Batty wasn't released outside UK until much, much later), it was a good, simple game with lots of demo effe...

Re: The best 'Special Edition' promo on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: vote

Lots of nice stuff in here. 1. Cybernoid 2, obviously. I remember playing the demo and loved it. I probably don't have to explain why. 2. Rex. The demo was not as good as the real game, and it took me a while to get over that. Because it really did not made me want to get it. 3. Stormlord demo was r...

Re: Music files in SC and other sites. Permission affair.

Perhaps we should automatically block all AY files for games released in the last N years (10? 15?) and keep the others available, unless the author declares otherwise. I feel that N is perhaps still too flexible. My current preference is to have a cut off date like the year 2000, (unless the autho...

275 guests right now. In another 8 bit related forum that I visit we also have 300 guests yesterday. Fortunately we got rid of most of those bots there now. My guess is that we have a bit of problem right here too. Still, it is important to note that we might need to add more AI generated sentences ...

Re: The best playable demo of a budget game on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: vote

This time I'll just based on mostly what I've played back then: 1) Task Force. A cheaper Cybernoid clone, but the demo is fine. I've played and disassembled it a bit. Not much though, but enough to see how the map was build from. Compared to the Shark demo, Task Force was had a lot more content. 2) ...

Re: BASin - How to load code from assembler?

If you call the ROM code directly to load data, then it expects only the data part of the tape, without the header.

If you are lazy, then just call the ROM routine twice. The first time it loads the header (which you ignore), and use the same routine to load the data afterwards. :)

Talking about Misconceptions...

I understood that the computer is not called "SAM Coupé" and "SAM" has nothing to do with the computer?

Was that true or did I read the adverts wrong back then?

Re: The best playable demo of a full price game on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: vote

Of particular interest is this explainer as you start the demo: "THIS IS A MIXTURE OF BACKGROUNDS FROM LOAD TWO AND ENEMIES FROM LOAD ONE WITH THE FOURTH WEAPON SYSTEM" So it would seem that it's not quite content exclusive to the demo, just an edited 'remix' of sorts, of the full game? I...

oh, so it's different from RexDemo.tap i see Never heard of that file. But the non-interactive "demo" of Rex is, if I understand correctly, side A of the official release. Side B is the game, but I wouldn't call side A a demo. For everyone else, the demo we're talking here is a different ...

Re: The best playable demo of a full price game on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: vote

Rats. I did have a discussion phase on this, and nobody brought up the fact Cybernoid II and Rex's representations fitted the (cumbersomely named) ''Special Edition' Games That Are Like Playable Demos Yet Offer An Experience Fairly Exclusive From The Full Game category, rather than a typical playab...

Re: The best playable demo of a full price game on a YS/Crash/SU covertape: vote

Lots of great choices, so I'll start highlighting the demos that I've played a lot. Batman: Nothing special, but just a nice exploration game from the first level. Still, I've played it quite a bit. Cybernoid II: A lovely demo that I've played a long time, not as much as the main game, but that's be...

I'm a little nonplussed by folks who don't think Miner Willy should be on a BAFTA list of iconic videogame characters... It's the British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards, after all. I agree. Have you noticed I wrote about "AFTA" instead of BAFTA in an earlier post? Sometimes yo...

Re: Lara Croft voted most iconic character ever

I wouldn't say that. Switch is on its way to be the best selling console of all time and Nintendo's main games are still bestsellers, with the likes of Breath of The Wild getting 10/10s all round to boot. If's fine if you wouldn't say it. Then again you probably couldn't remember how gigantic the N...

I guess that a lot of them do belong in the list, but at some point the list become very meh. I don't think games from the last 5 years should be in the list though, that's just not long enough to be iconic. I can imagine Lara deserve the top spot on the list, but there were other contenders that we...

I have absolutely no problem on reclassifications as long as the person who asked for it do 101% of the work. (That does not imply it can be passed to the database. It would still need to be checked by everyone else first.) And to be honest, I don't see much worms here, so I'd rather leave it as it ...

I don't really play fruit machines nowadays, but I must say the graphics of the 2010 version do look like the symbols on real fruit machines back then. With a number next to the fruit.

Almost nostalgic.

As someone who had made a simple thing on the Game boy -- it's very similar to z80 after all --, I find this video to be interesting but also has a lot of interesting and almost correct details. Like that blowing cartridges is only for the gameboy, or that it has exactly 65000 bytes, or even how the...
