Although there were two women in t'old days (both of them north of 60 now, if they're still alive) who made knitting pattern generators for the ZX81 and had them published in magazines of the time. See exhibit A ... and exhibit B has been lost to where I found it, but the article had a picture of t...

Re: My new emulator - ZX Miracle
@Weiv, thank you for explaining the situation. I want to support the emulator financially to some degree — let me experiment some more with the demo and get back to you. I don’t use Windows any more, but it seems to work okay in Wine.

Re: My new emulator - ZX Miracle
Oh no, that’s sad to hear. Of course, it’s your personal project and I completely understand if you decide not to develop it any more.
Does this mean that the emulator is now unavailable to those who missed it when it was released?

I don't think The Smoog should really count as a modern game if it was released in 1984.

What framerate does your game run at? Could you write music for a 25Hz interrupt, then call the player once every two frames? (This is what GLUF does.)

Re: Per-pixel map scroller for ATM-Turbo compatibles
Interesting! Although the commentary is in Russian, the auto-translated captions are just about understandable. I got the impression from the development video that memory is fairly tight in the kernel. I wondered how many levels there were altogether in Untangle, so I looked at the source. It seems...

Hmm, interesting. I wonder how they did it. Apparently the site doesn't have a database, so my guess is that it uses static pages from somewhere like archive.org.

Androids doesn't work because it reads the keyboard incorrectly. Give these POKEs a try and see if they work for you:

Re: New WoS and ZXDB
In Einar's initial post on this thread, -- if I remember correctly -- he points out that items with WoS ids higher than old WoS coincidentally showed titles that had the same id in ZXDB. And then they were removed. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought it was only the banner on the homepage (advertising 2...

Re: New WoS and ZXDB
There is no valid reason why new WoS can't support the ZXDB-minted id for titles that weren't in old WoS, thus preserving the ZXBD id. That's already been seen, as new titles not in old-WoS that briefly appeared in new WoS had the same id as those in ZXDB. When did the new titles get added to WoS? ...

Re: AY to MIDI
It depends on how complex your chosen music is. The AY chip doesn't deal with notes, only a series of pitch/volume updates, so proper conversion will be non-trivial. However, .AY files usually contain raw note data, which may be simpler to extract for MIDI conversion. Do you have any examples in mind?

Re: New Friendlier Hyperlinks
There are still a lot of games that share the same name across a single platform (for example, there are nine games for the Spectrum called 'Invaders'). If anything, that seems more common than having two games of the same name on different platforms.

Re: New Friendlier Hyperlinks
I was just about to say that I generally like these new links, although I'm not sure it's necessary to include the machine type, given that it's almost always 'ZX-Spectrum'. Luckily it can be omitted, so it's not a big deal. (In fact you can put anything you like in the URL after the ID and it will ...
