Re: Let's see if I can beat Scrabble Deluxe on highest level then

My idea for the last tiles was RUS across Ghosts (old name for Russian tribe) but that would have caused trouble as it's not valid for some reason I don't know. And IN to get rid of the N.
I thought you'd nearly scratch the 400 but the last move really took the score a notch higher. Nice finish.

Re: im looking for a zoom in routine

You could use the Plot routine to do that (mentioned a bit earlier here ). You just need to derive from it a new routine that checks the bit at position in DE. Then you can do this: ld de, 0x0000 ; pixel pos where to check: (0,0) = top-left corner ld hl, 0x0080 ; pixel pos where to draw: (0,128) ld ...

Re: Let's see if I can beat Scrabble Deluxe on highest level then

Ene is also the name of a tribe on Fireland I think. Happens in crosswords (German though).
I was mistaken, it's the name of a river in Peru, Ona is the name of the tribe. Sorry.

Re: printing to the screen without using rom calls

when you say call plot, do u mean the plot rom routine? Any plot routine will do, there's even one in the book. But if you want to have at look at this one, it plots OVER 1 at the position in DE = (y,x) where (0,0) refers to the top-left corner of the screen. Plot: ; plot over 1 at de=(y,x) ; chang...

Re: printing to the screen without using rom calls

What about plotting your letters? Like so: Print_s: ld de, 0x13 ; start at y=1, x=3 call Plot dec e call Plot dec e call Plot inc d call Plot inc d call Plot inc e call Plot inc e call Plot inc d call Plot inc d call Plot dec e call Plot dec e call Plot which gives you a small 's' at any pixel posit...

Re: BASin - How to load code from assembler?

These are uncompressed data? Yes, 70 fullscreens with 6912 bytes and 70 dithered versions with 6144 bytes. Due to the 16:9 aspect mode, 48 lines of data are thrown into the bin. The BASin profiler shows that it takes 2.8 frames for two LOAD operations. So it gets to about 230 Kb/s. I am reading doc...

Re: Why didn't the Spectrum have an FPS?

What about Tomahawk?
Ok, it's a flight simulator, but you have many elements that contribute to the FPS experience.
Like switching weapons, roaming a 3D world, a variety of targets, interaction (landing on a pad), maps and missions.

Re: BASin - How to load code from assembler?

Here's a warp effect that uses the file access feature from BASin. Currently a small Basic prog that LOADs the frames one by one and a small USR routine to throw the bytes onto the screen. The crisp effect is caused by loading the coloured frame directly followed by the dithered version of the same ...
