This bug was very hard to spot due to background tiles and particular place.

Made some demos that visualize some of my optimizations. Spectrum Analyser is great tool for such things. @Lee Bee Actually SID tune is very similar to AY one. I would like something more like remix\inspired by, like in the official modern remake:

There's no space in 48k version to fit AY tune. Beeper one takes 1.25k and AY - 2.5k.

I started working on 128k version. It builds and runs and is 1-2% faster than 48k version. Still no music yet.

So the recommended speed is 12.5fps? Probably I didn't get the message right. I was precisely asking for responsiveness at 25fps but everything else moving at a more moderate pace which would make sense. If there`s any difference you should be able to measure it. I recorded videos in emulator and compared them frame by frame. It is not very accurate but it is more accurate than just "see" or "feel".
By the way - 1 fps difference would be more than 20% for Outrun.

But sprites in Enduro are much bigger and active screen area is also much bigger. I think the Enduro engine is just more advanced.

@toot_toot It is not a bug, Alan said that the game engine was improved in later games.
