Re: Options for reading & writing real Disciple / Plus D & SAM disks in 2024
Greaseweazle rocks, use it for making Amiga images, only way to do it with a pc... JD Just spent a happy half hour reading about what Greaseweazle can do... it looks amazing. And the hardware is cheaper than a Gotek (of course you need a floppy drive to connect to it). I think I'm going to invest i...

Re: Options for reading & writing real Disciple / Plus D & SAM disks in 2024
I use a Greaseweazel with a desktop Intel iMac and a reclaimed PC 3.5" floppy drive. (There are some other tips in the linked thread too). Wow, I wish I had of seen that thread previously. It seems that recent Win operating systems with the FDRAWSYS driver does allow the emulators to read/wrti...

Options for reading & writing real Disciple / Plus D & SAM disks in 2024
So you want to read/write MGT format disks in 2024 ? Perhaps archive some of your old floppies to images before they expire in the loft ? I wondered how images of real Plus D / Disciple / SAM Coupe disks were created and it seems like most of the ways to do this expired with the death of Dos at the ...

Disciple / Plus D with Gotek 'Check Disc in drive'
Posting this here as a FYI as I couldn't find any information on the internet on this issue. TLDR; Plus D will throw a 'CHECK DISC in drive' error when formatting a disk (image) using a Gotek; needs config item in flash floppy to fix. I'm guessing lots of people use Plus D with Gotek, but mostly for...

Re: Help Uploading Technical Information on Disciple
For some flavour, I had a DISCiPLE, it was a wonderful piece of kit, easing my upgrade path to the SAM Coupé. At the time I was living in NZ and bought it on our 1987 holiday to The Netherlands at Data-Skip in Gouda, a 5.25" DSDD disk drive was bought in the USA - at Egghead if I recall correc...

Re: Help Uploading Technical Information on Disciple
Ugh, now I understand what you mean... it doesn't require an additional page out.. it's bad wording in the document. It only looks for location 0x066, not the NMI line

Re: Help Uploading Technical Information on Disciple
Thanks for taking the time to read it, it has been a labour of love and taxed my brain - especially the Disciple ROM/RAM swopping and boot flip flop, never mind reset behaviour. I've updated version 2.1 of the doc, which includes more clarifications and describes differences between the Plus D and D...

Re: Help Uploading Technical Information on Disciple
Not quite sure what you mean.
The NMI gets the Z80 to do the jump of the PC to 0x0066, but the Spectrum ROM still needs to be paged out so the Disciple can handle it.

Re: DISCiPLE snap-shot bug, is it solved? (maybe now?)
Actually, looking at this, I don't think it will break old snapshots... they will still work.
I think they end up with wrong values in A'F', but they have that today anyway ?
Maybe GDOS 3E is due

Re: DISCiPLE snap-shot bug, is it solved? (maybe now?)
I've noodled on this bug for a while too, and came to the conclusion its not worth fixing. Any 128 snapshots I have done with the bug work, whilst i know they aren't technically correct, the software that is snapped usually functions. It does raise the question of how 128K snaps on the plusD would w...
