Re: Game of the day...

I got past that bit (assuming you mean trapping the knights in the pits), but then stupidly died at the top.

As you say, the collision takes some getting used to. I'm pleased there's ten lives!

I'm reassured by it only having ten levels, perhaps I'm less rubbish than I thought. (Got as far as The Pits)

I was thinking 23 lives was too generous, until I reached level 3 and that bloody trident thing at the bottom left. Argh!

Re: First tape/games you got with your ZX Spectrum

Ah, that's exactly the bundle I got. Shockingly, I went in with my mum to get a C16 as that's what my best friend had but the shop assistant in Dixons talked her into getting me a Speccy and whoever he is, he's basically the man to have ever lived. I very nearly got a C16 too, because I knew we had...

Re: First tape/games you got with your ZX Spectrum

Another 48K with the Sinclair Six pack here. I played Horace and Chequered Flag a huge amount, also Survival, but then got fascinated by Make-A-Chip (probably why I went on to do an degree in electronics 10 years later!) Oh so that's where I went wrong! If only I'd loaded it more than once. Mind yo...

Dixons Spectrum+ bundle, Christmas 1985. In descending order of how often I loaded them: Horace Goes Skiing Chequered Flag Starion Planetoids Scrabble Reversi Chess Survival Make-A-Chip VU-3D No Horizons tape, but there was a Spectrum+ guide which included a sideways Breakout/Thro The Wall clone and...

I've never played it until now. I'm very good at it, if the object of the game is to bounce around a bit and die.

Re: High Score Table tales

Apparently some of these Design Design score tables also had a whole load of responses if you typed certain things into the high score table. ( Crash letters page ). Not sure if there's a full list somewhere? There's a load of info about Design Design/Crystal games here: https://worldofspectrum.net...

Terra Cresta had an interesting hi-score table if you read it top to bottom: https://i.postimg.cc/5jN8QTKh/Screenshot-20240401-131933-Spectaculator.jpg I always wondered why Claire had that nickname in Lap of the Gods: https://i.postimg.cc/fkrStL9d/Screenshot-20240401-131447-Spectaculator.jpg

I didn't realise it was set to Hard mode automatically. I tried on Easy but didn't find it that much easier.

I keep dying on level 6 so might have to start saving my progress too.

Re: games where protagonist transforms / changes in time

Oh I think I get it now. This thread is about being able to traverse the same level with a choice of different characters or vehicles. For example, Glider Rider where you can play as a glider or a bike. That makes this different to the other thread, which was about a single character changing appea...
