Re: DenOfGeek : The games that defined the Spectrum

For me one of the games that defines the Speccy is Wanted:Monty Mole. I know it was multi-platform but when it was released it was one of the games that everyone wanted (pun fully intended). At the local computer club our 1hr allotted time in the high cool canteen was spent making as many copies of ...

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Steve Crow): vote

1 - Starquake. Like others have stated, this was/is, one of the absolute classic Speccy games. Beautiful to look at, brilliant intro tune, just amazing sfx and the teleporters just added something unique. 2 - Firelord- A very, very close runner up which I think is actually a better looking game than...

There's Gameone in Stoke on Trent (no a million miles from you):

Not sure if they're a bit more console focussed as opposed to our beloved rubber keyed beauty.

Wow, I didn’t even know this was possible. Just in the process of building a bit of a permanent setup for my NEXT and really looking forward to trying this out. Does it work on Deathchase?

Weird thing is that I can see images in the ‘Guess the Screen’ thread but nothing in this thread. Looks like it just when I view this thread on my iphone, on my macbook its fine.

Re: Devfinitive Edition (Mike Richardson): vote

1 - Scuba Dive - I remember being utterly amazed at the animation of the shark when I first played this. It was one of those ‘how can graphics get any better than this’ moments :-) 2 - Turbo Esprit - No Turbo Esprit = No GTA. A genuinely groundbreaking game. 3 - Thanatos - Giant Dragons, what’s not ...

@worcestersource my post was going to be exactly the same as yours. Loved Captain Blood, but, also had no idea what I was doing.

Never heard of Purple Saturn Day either.

1- Ghosts and Goblins. One of the small collection of games I actually purchased ( :!: :!: ) . Spent many happy hours playing this but only ever managed to get to the end of the second level. 2 - Marauder. Hard as nails but an absolutely brilliant arcade shooter. Brilliant menu and in-game music on ...
