Re: The 8-bits War

This is a great game. Bit like a less frantic Starquake.

Yep, indeed it was. And, for some odd reason I really like the game so this is from the game as opposed to the Loading Screen.

I think there’s a bit of The Mandela Effect going on here as the sign in CE2 looks not like the one you posted:

I use Fuse on my old jailbroken Playstation Portable it's great, but obviously it's no good for text adventures as it only has an on-screen keyboard.

:D :D I always remember when Steve Wright was on in the afternoon on Radio 1 and he'd have some voice-over guy saying 'chaka demus and his arc welder'. I've no idea why but that really used to tickle me :D :D

For some reason I seem to remember reading in a magazine that SAM stood for SpectrumAMiga and that it was going to be this giant slaying super computer. Apparently not :(

Re: Head Over Heels (Next)

Only just got round to playing this and with the original being one of my all time favourite games I was apprehensive as to how faithful to the original it would be. I'm glad to see that this version is excellent and, to me, it feels like a genuine 'updated' version of the Speccy classic. Brilliant ...

Re: Guess the screen$

It looks like it should be from the Official Mary Poppins game, but thankfully there never was one. Imagine the 48k Speccy spewing out a sampled version of Dick VanDick's god awful Cockerney Accent

Re: First tape/games you got with your ZX Spectrum

My 48k came with the now legendary Horizon tape and the Sinclair Six Pack ( scrabble, horace goes skiing, chequered flag, make a chip, survival & Chess). On the same day we picked the Speccy up from Boots ( yes kids you used to be able to buy computers from a chemists 🤣), I also bought Luna Crab...

How come Trantor: The last stormtrooper isn’t on the list? This was one of my all time favourite playable demo’s even if it was just to watch the intro sequence with the amazing tune.

I’ve only played one game from this list but it was an absolute classic., and classic was ‘Bored of the Rings’. From the moment I was presented with text that said ‘then, spurring his black mount, he emitted one great and sour fart…..’ I knew I was in good company!

Re: DenOfGeek : The games that defined the Spectrum

For me one of the games that defines the Speccy is Wanted:Monty Mole. I know it was multi-platform but when it was released it was one of the games that everyone wanted (pun fully intended). At the local computer club our 1hr allotted time in the high cool canteen was spent making as many copies of ...

1 - Starquake. Like others have stated, this was/is, one of the absolute classic Speccy games. Beautiful to look at, brilliant intro tune, just amazing sfx and the teleporters just added something unique. 2 - Firelord- A very, very close runner up which I think is actually a better looking game than...

There's Gameone in Stoke on Trent (no a million miles from you):

Not sure if they're a bit more console focussed as opposed to our beloved rubber keyed beauty.

Wow, I didn’t even know this was possible. Just in the process of building a bit of a permanent setup for my NEXT and really looking forward to trying this out. Does it work on Deathchase?
