Trying to locate a game....
I hae been searching for a game I used to play on the Spectrum. All I can remember is the following : The game was a played inside vector graphic tunnel, the tunnel was rectangular in section. The player was in a vehicle travelling along the tunnel. At some points the tunnel would split into two dif...

Re: ZXBaremulator v3.H(ikoki) beta
Thank you. The new icon to indicate extended keyboard mode is a good improvement. I will give it some testing. I have fixed my controller by building up some blue tac around the usb plug

Can you provide a link for the 3.H.5 version. The link at the top of this thread is for the 3.H.3 version.

Re: ZXBaremulator v3.H(ikoki) beta
Looking forward to the update. Even with the bug the emulator is usable, have been playing on it a few hours this evening. hikoki I think the usb port on my controller is quite worn out. With some care I have had a few hours of gameplay, having something that causes trouble if you...

Re: ZXBaremulator v3.H(ikoki) beta
I have been giving the emulator some proper usage and have found one bug. On the 48k emulator, after a reset (ss+r), the symbol shift key becomes stuck on when you turn off the alternate keyboard. This bug seems to be 100% repeatable. Power up the Pi -> Enter alternate keyboard (ss+cs+enter) -> Rese...

Re: ZXBaremulator v3.H(ikoki) beta
I have a PI 3 and have tested with a Recreated ZX Keyboard. This emulator is awesome, a real thing of beauty. I also have a PS3 controller so this is a perfect set up for me. Powering on the PI is uncannily like powering a real Spectrum. I love it. I have no bugs to report. The extended keyboard mod...

Re: ZX Spectrum Next
Is the Kickstarter campaign now closed? At this time, there does seem that there is no way to place an order for a board-only next, Amirite? The more I read about the Next the more I am gutted that I was not on the scene when the kickstarter was fielded. I have no interest in the boxed and cased ver...

Re: ZX Spectrum Next
don't think there are any plans for a retail release That is a shame, I guess I will not be getting a Next any time soon. Seems odd to make a brand new Spectrum and then keep it to a very exclusive club of people. I did think the 'accelerated' Next seemed a bit overpriced considering all you get ex...

Re: Prize games
Hareraiser had the golden hare of masquerade or £30,000! I remember reading Masquerade as a child, the artwork was wonderful. I googled it because I never did find out if the prize golden hare was ever discovered. The chap who created Hareraiser apparently cheated his way to the hare by gaining som...

Re: Golf games
I hunted down a golf game I used to play with my dad. He was a keen golfer but had little interest in anything else computer related. He bought it via a small ad for seven quid apparently. Played through the very BASIC looking course several times, all of the actions were performed via INPUT stateme...

Re: The best classic Speccy game beginning with G: discussion
I have a fondness for a game called 'golf'. Pretty sure it was written in BASIC and was bought from a small ad in the Sinclair User. It was the only computer game I ever played with my Dad. For me it must be Grand Prix simulator based on hours played. Great Escape was groundbreaking though, very ori...

Re: Fixing audio on a grey +2
Thank you, I think the WOS thread may be the exact thread I am trying to find. I will most likely make the relay mod to cut the tape player input when not in use. I used a cassette audio adapter (dummy cassette with a wired tape head inside) to load up some games, it worked well but when I amplified...

Fixing audio on a grey +2
I have recently obtained a grey +2. I have managed to clean up the composite output by removing C31. I have no need to feed this signal to the RF, so I simply removed the capacitor. My next problem is the abysmal sound. I am fine with the sound coming out of the mono audio jack already on the +2, bu...

Re: My new game - CSSCGC 2018 entry
I went with an LCD game to keep things simple, I was originally going to write this game in BASIC. My thought was, how hard can it be simply turning attributes on and off. Anyhow, things galloped on and it ended up in assembly. In fact, I never even started a BASIC version. The internet is a wonderf...

Re: My new game - CSSCGC 2018 entry
I have just fixed this so it works on real hardware, following the advice from @Ast A. Moore. I, foolishly it seems, used an emulator to give me a result for each single key-press and used the results in my code. I thought it would be OK, because I was only looking for a single ke...

Re: My new game - CSSCGC 2018 entry
This is a relief, from the point of view of my spectrum. I guess I get bonus points for sending in a game that is unusable on the actual machine I wrote it for
Thank you for this knowledge...I will bug fix this and re upload a fixed version for the ZXDB

Re: My new game - CSSCGC 2018 entry
This game will not work on my Series 3 rubber keyed Spectrum :( Can anyone test this on some real hardware for me? It could be my spectrum is on the blink...aged capacitors. The keys only respond on this game if i repeatedly press and get luck. I am hoping I have missed some quirk of the real hardwa...

Re: Demoscene programs
If I had to put it bluntly, you'd probably be hard-pressed and/or grasping for straws to find 'dat elusive demoscene identity' thing. Most often you can identify demoscene stuff as stuff that was released as a demo, most often at a party or some such. As soon as I watched your posted video, I was t...

Re: My new game - CSSCGC 2018 entry
Oh poop, Upon play testing there is a bug... The first play works well, but I fear I may have not reset a counter that works the acceleration of the car. This means on second play you will have to wait until the score is around 200 or so before you will get an increase in speed... ho hum, crap games...

Re: Demoscene programs
I was not active in the demoscene, I was more a consumer. I always saw the demoscene as creativity. Not necesarily art, but creation definitely. So demos were always expressive. Some producers had swagger, my morphing pixel ball has more dots than yours, type of stuff. Some were artsy. They all had ...
