This reminded me of a question I asked on the WOS forums 16 years ago:

Re: New multi platform emulator - Speculator
"Just the name is unfortunate, easy to confuse with Spectaculator." I did a search here to check it hadn't already been discussed here, and found about 4 or 5 hits where people had mis-typed Spectaculator, plus a couple referring to the Spectrum game Speculator I could swear there used to...

Re: Fake history
Interesting topic. I wanted to touch this subject before but decided against it, thinking it would make some people feel personally attacked. I think of this anytime someone says they're releasing something they made back in the day but it was lost. Or maybe they say they created the game not planni...

Vintage Computer Festival in California
Went to Southern California’s Vintage Computer festival last Sunday. I was hoping to see a few TS2068s but there were none. I saw a ZX81 with ZX-Pand interface, a Harlequin, a ZX80, and the Sinclair MK14 up and running with display and tape interface. Amiga, C64, Macintosh, old PCs with Sound Blaste...

Re: In game beeper music
I forgot the name of the game and the author, but it was 100% Sinclair Basic and had in-game music. Might have been one of those I-can’t-believe-it’s-not-machine-code games we’ve seen in the past few years.

Re: Tall tales about the spectrum
People used to say you could kill a Spectrum with a certain command, entered in Sinclair Basic. I don't remember if it was a POKE or a USR thing.

I always look forward to their next game. Not a puzzle, not AGD, great graphics, presentation, story and production. I wish they were around in the late 80s and early 90s. They would've pushed the other developers to do better.

I tried the fast speed Barbarian mod a couple days ago and all I could think of was "Since this was possible back in the day, we could've had a fast Barbarian and more frames in the animation as well"

Related to this topic, but I'm tired and can't think of specific game names nor authors: -Someone has been making BASIC "micro" versions of known games. I think the most recent ones were inspired by Fred and Abu Simbel Profanation -A couple games were released in the past year, or maybe tw...

I thought this topic would be about people who submitted software as their own when it was actually made by someone else. Now I'm curious if such topic was ever covered. I remember we covered the topic of art that was borrowed from somewhere else, but I'm almost certain there were people who submitt...

I don’t remember the name of the games, only that they seemed odd at the time:
-Game where you pickup babies
-Game where you eliminate(?) babies
-Game where you use a toothbrush to prevent cavities, with mixed results
-Game where you control a giant hand and grab bugs

Do magazine type-ins count? There were many games that were in BASIC but also many that were in machine code. Some of the games that appeared in Microhobby were the type (no pun intended) where you just explore.

Re: Did you have your own TV/monitor when you got your Speccy?
Answered yes. I only got my +2 around 1988 (yes, I know), but my parents bought me a Neptun 156 monitor, extremely popular in Portugal. The green monochrome didn't bother me, because it had a very sharp/clear image, compared with the TVs of the time. The only problem was that there were two colours ...

The computer room in my high school had some Timex computers with the FDD3000 3" disk drives and monochrome monitors, but most computers in the room were IBM PCs with some basic image editor, word processor and something about turtles and LOGO. I obviously spent more time with the Timex compute...

If we had Spectrum point and click games such as Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis, helpcomputer0's art would make them an instant hit.
