Re: Testing emulators using z80test-1.0. Quick results

Oh! Welcome to the forums arjun So glad you are still working on the emulator, is one of my favorites for quick testing things. About the test, I started the thread as a curiosity, but evolved into something pretty interesting, and yup!, Some authors felt the necessity to go back to their code (sorr...

Re: ZXSR bugs

I've found something interesting. I'm trying to fix this report: https://spectrumcomputing.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=28971#p28971 I can confirm that the review for Elephant Antics on Crash #91 page 65 is incorrect: https://archive.org/stream/crash-magazine-91/Crash_91_Aug_1991#page/n65/mode/1up B...

Re: What do you now know many years later

I now understand (from Bob Pape's book, I think) that they used higher-powered computers to assemble the code, then flashed it into the Speccy's memory via the I/O port at the back. Neat! Same here. It was interesting to discover Manic Miner was programmed that way, using a TR-80 if I'm not mistake...

Yes. The overall quality of the .txt instructions in the archive is poor from a preservation perspective.
We also discovered typos that ended up on the database. To have the source is invaluable IMO.

Re: Hungry Horace on Steam?

The "Horace" IP is now owned by Subvert Ltd, which in turn is owned by Paul Andrews. The same Paul Andrews behind The C64 Mini and the original Vega. Also interesting to note, Pixel Games UK , the company behind this port is, of course, owned by Andrews but it has also recently changed the name to ...

Re: What do you now know many years later

Since I decided to openly be part of the community and dig a bit more about the Spectrum I discovered many shocking things, including the hover key on Jetpac  But two things I remember as interesting are the 128k version of Yie ar Kung Fu, I always though that has an "extended" version, not a c...

Re: Average magazine score

Maybe as we don't have all the information we could do something bespoke for you. I think having half and half would be confusing and would create more debate. Yeah, I think you're right. For something directly exposed on the entry, to count all reviews is a better reflection of the times, perhaps ...

Re: Average magazine score

How much is "close to publication year"? Also what should we do when we don't have a game release date or the magazine issue year? I was thinking year of release plus next year, if we don't have the information, just count everything. We (still) don't have the information for accurately do this but...

Thanks for the feedback. This is not a perfect science and excluding re-reviews get too complicated.
In the future perhaps we can have an algorithm that only matches reviews close to the publication year, this way most of the re-reviews can be filtered.

What happens @druellan if you put Hudson Soft into the publisher field on advanced search and choose strict search?
In that case I get ONLY Hudson Soft titles, but if I click on "Hudson Soft" on any of the titles, I get the extended list above.
